Our four children have attended this school for six years. It has been an overwhelmingly positive experience. My oldest child is in 5th grade and my youngest just started preschool. My children have thrived at this Catholic School. Our childrens ablilities vary, but each of them have a positive attitude toward school. The teachers and principal care about each and every student. To sum it up this a school with a strong focus on living a Catholic life, as well a very strong academics.
Unless your child fits into the cookie cutter mold- don't bother. The school is also run by a group of booze drinking socialites who put their interests before their child's activities.
Our son entered St. Augustine two years ago. The principal, Andra Zommers is wonderful! She assessed our sons needs and helped us get him extra help, he was struggling to catch up after being in KPS. Teachers were dedicated, especially Beth Latshaw, his science teacher. The schools immaculately clean inside and out. The children perform community help tasks, they are polite and disciplined. We have been very impressed with this school academically, spiritually and otherwise.
I came St. Augustine as part of the St. Mary school family when St. Mary closed in June 2004. It has been a very positive experience to see so many teachers and students working together to make this transition a success for all.
St. Augustine Cathedral School is part of the Catholic Schools of Greater Kalamazoo and reflects well their commitment to excellence in education. We have 2 children in this school and we are very happy with their overall education.
