We love the teachers here, we have always been able to approach and talk to any of the teachers about any subject and they are always very helpful. My children, and wife and I, have always had a very positive experience with every aspect of Indian Woods.

I was very unhappy with this school when my son went there. Like another parent said if your childs learning style does not mesh into theirs your left behind and considered to be a "problem". I was so dissatisfied with one teacher it prompted me to switch schools all together.

Awesome Teachers! Both of my kids go there and they are both excelling. I have heard that the new principal does not stand up for the teachers and students as well as the last one. But overall this school has caring teachers and parents and a great student body.

Better than Landmark Academy, but some teachers are unapproachable. Student's can even tell when teachers don't like a certain student in the class. If you don't fit into their idea of what an Indian Woods student should be, they will suggest going that you move your child to the lower schools in the district. There are some really kind and wonderful teachers at Indian Woods, but watch out for some. Go with your gut feeling. Some teachers really like parent involvement and those are the ones that make Indian Woods worth dealing with. Others would rather you stay out of the room altogether and those are the ones that make you want to take your kids out. 3 stars for teacher quality-there are some real 5 star teachers there though. 4 stars for principal- She's great, but I can't believe she can't see how rude some teachers are.

My daughter is now 13 and she went there and now my son is 6 and has just started there. It has not changed, there is a lot of both teacher/parent participation as well as communication. Classes are small, and there is so much involvement. Teachers are easy to access and talk to. I have never felt alone there. A very nice school, sort of like a gem in the bushes.

About the tests

In 2012-2013 Michigan used the Michigan Educational Assessment Program (MEAP) to test students in grades 3 through 8 in math, reading and writing; in grades 5 and 8 in science; and in grades 6 and 9 in social studies. The MEAP is a standards-based test, which measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Michigan. The goal is for all students to score at or above the proficient level.

Beginning in the 2011-2012 school year, the Michigan State Board of Education implemented new definitions of what it means to be proficient on the MEAP test. The new standards for proficiency are higher than in previous years and the percent of students earning a proficient score is expected to be lower as a result of this change.
