The leadership in this school is lacking and the district has forgotten who their customer is; the student and parents. Very poor communication and lack of techonolgy within the whole district.
I love this school! I have made some life long friends here. I will never forget the awesome teachers and staff and I will miss this school dearly come May 15th.
I went to Lakewood Public Schools my whole life, and I very much enjoyed the educational experience. The teachers and staff at the school were so nice and caring. When I needed guidance the staff was there to lend a hand. If I were to do it over, I don't believe that I would change a thing. The building is older and sports are a big deal, but that is what you get in a small town atmosphere such as Lakewood.
I transferred my daughter there from Grand Ledge schools about 2 years ago-putting her into the 8th grade. That was the best decision our family made for her. She was in some classes that needed special help and they provided that fully for her. I get help and respect from the teachers and so does my daughter. She was being bullied at Grand Ledge and the school was doing nothing about it, at Lake O, she now has a large variety of friends, doing better in school, actually likes going to school, and is now on a path to planning her college education which they are also very helpful with. All of the teachers, parents and kids are very friendly there. We even just recently moved to Lake Odessa.
I transfered to Lakewood when I started High School. It's AMAZING here. Going to Lakewood was the best choice I ever made. And I made some really great friends. Because everybody is so nice to other people, I wasn't scared to become more outgoing. LAKEWOOD ROCKS!
I tried really hard at this school, but it gave me nothing. I really regret going there. The educational quality is poor, and it does little to prepare students for collage.
This school is below average, the building is falling in and the staff has been there forever, there is no new blood and only a handful of teachers that take their job seriously. This community is ignoring their school and only paying attention to their sports program. If you want a scholarship to play sports somewhere, go to this school, if you want academics, go elsewhere.
The parents and the citizens of the Lakewood area are what make this school great. It is a great place to raise my kids
While Lakewood schools may not have the financial resources or the shiny new facilities of some of the surrounding districts, as a former student I believe that my education was more than sufficient in preparing me for college. Lakewood seems to have a great group of teachers for a rural area. The administration is also very caring and very competent. Sometimes the focus on sports can be a little too strong, but as a result there is a ton of school spirit there as well. If you can get past the older buildings, Lakewood schools can be a great experience.
