I attended this school last year and i am going again this fall. I think that it is a great place to learn and the teachers are really good at teaching. My problem with this school is that some of the teachers are very mean even though they can teach. Also, last year there was at least fifteen fights and after the first ten the principal finally decides to put up security cameras. Not only was there fights but some kids started to pull the fire alarm on purpose and they also started stealing out of other kids lockers. I only recommend this school for the great learning process but not for the safety of your children.

Very disappointed. I am a student. Teachers and principle not helpful. They are too busy to handle all the students. They don't keep important records straight.

i was attending this school for seventh grade and ill be back there for the fall but i personally dont want to and i dont know any kid that will. the teachers are wonderfull i loved all my teachers but the school in general is horrible i think they should offer more after school activites and more fun electives. the mose exciting electives for me were art and woodshop. i would highley reccomend your child going here but its like any school they dont want to go here.

I am a student at Emerson right now. It it a wonderful school with great teachers that are strict, but good. They help kids with their problems, and because of that, many kids are on the honor roll and excellence club. Go Emerson Eagles!

Very disappointed with this school. They did not protect my child from bully's. Principal very difficult to talk with. They do not have an open door policy. Not a nice environment. I would definately not recommend this school.

Ive moved from livonia, michigan now to geneva, illinois. I just finished seventh grade at emerson middle school, and it was great! 95% of the kids are really friendly, and you can make friends fast! the teachers help you with anything you need; very helpful. the halls are crouded and the lockers are very narrow, but somehow you deal with it after the first couple weeks. the luches are tasty, but there is pizza every day, wich I dont think they should do; there needs to be more nutritious meals, but overall, its good. there is an EXELENT music program, and the student's performances' always blow you away. there are alot of choices for electives, but not as many extra curricular programs. they have your basic sports teams, which have good coaches teaching students. good memories are always helt at this school, and I will always be a proud eagle inside!!

Very good music program. Good communications by phone or e-mail with teachers. Does a good job getting kids ready for the world of high school.

I'm a student of this school. It is my first year. So far it's really good our princepal is really nice and funny, but our assi. princeoal can be strict if you make her mad. Also i've made so many new friends here. Also there bullying policy really works. I can feel safe that I know the hallways are bully free.

I was a formal student at emerson and i would just like to say that these were the best 2 years of my life the students and staff are all so very nice and the principal and asst. principal are the best i would like to encourage your child to go to this school. it is very safe with their bully policy they put up in effect a year or two ag.o i want all parents with kids to know that this was the best experience of my life and the memories here i will cherish for the rest of my life. i know that your child will do so much here at this school and acheive so much and so outstnding things and reach to the top, so go ahead emerson welcome new students next year and promise me to give them so much love like you did me!

I am a former student at Emerson. This school was horrible. The teachers were generally weak in subject matter and discipline was poor. Classes were often 'out of control'. The school was full of small minded students and bullies. I have few good memories of this zoo.

3 out of 4 of my children have attended Emerson Middle School and I believe it is one of the finest schools in the district. The administration and staff is 'Top Notch' and state test scores are consistantly higher than the state average. This fall our youngest will attend and am truly looking forward to the next 2 years.

About the tests

In 2012-2013 Michigan used the Michigan Educational Assessment Program (MEAP) to test students in grades 3 through 8 in math, reading and writing; in grades 5 and 8 in science; and in grades 6 and 9 in social studies. The MEAP is a standards-based test, which measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Michigan. The goal is for all students to score at or above the proficient level.

Beginning in the 2011-2012 school year, the Michigan State Board of Education implemented new definitions of what it means to be proficient on the MEAP test. The new standards for proficiency are higher than in previous years and the percent of students earning a proficient score is expected to be lower as a result of this change.
