I graduated from Lowell High School in 2007, and I can honestly say that I was one of the most prepared students in my freshman classes at the University of Michigan (study habits, writing style, reading comprehension and analysis). There are still teachers I regularly keep up with, especially the AP instructors. Of course, with all schools there are a few teachers that seem to be just getting by, but all in all I had a wonderful experience at Lowell High School. I also highly recommend the extracurricular activities and athletic teams at Lowell - my experiences in the classroom were rounded out by participation in student council, basketball, and track/cross country. The one downside of the whole district is the lack of diversity in the student population - I was a bit overwhelmed with the diversity in Ann Arbor when I first arrived! (But I am glad to report that feeling did not last for long!)

The phone number listed is wrong - the phone number to the Lowell High School Main Office should be (616) 987-2900.

We've given this school over a year now, and I think it safe to say that we would not recommend this school to anyone. The kids are extremely clicky, the athletics are very political, the staff is not flexible or accommodating, and the budget cuts- well its pretty ridiculous when you can't even have one light on after dark. You can't get anyone to answer a phone after 1:45, and ANYONE can get in the school and go anywhere without being questioned (how safe is that?). Teachers are hit or miss.

Overall, I have been extremely pleased with Lowell High School. My daughter has had excellent teachers and a wonderful time participating in the theatrical performances. The kids I have met are friendly and respectful; the kind of kids a mom would want her daughter to spend time with. The district has a nurturing, small town attitude. I would highly recommend this school!

The Freshman teachers are absolutely wonderful. Some, not all, of the upper grade teachers make you wonder why they are there. They are unfriendly, grouchy and give you the impression they are just there to collect a paycheck. Also, the school does not enforce the dresscode, especially at their dances. I've seen girls who look like they belong out on a street corner. Dirty dancing is also tolerated.

I'm a Student at LHS and the teaching staff is built on some of the best teachers I think I will ever have. The office staff is extremely helpful also. Besides having a great football program Lowell has one of the lowest dropout rates in Michigan. Also some of the highest scores on the Meap.
