Avoid Mrs. Robyn Pizzo as best you can. She should be teaching high school with the hands-off approach she has. I might as well be home-schooling my child. Also does not bring any helpful ideas to the table - only tells you where your child is "bad". Mrs. Bailey, the new principal has brought the school down since taking over. A parent was told no matter what grades a child receives, they pass them anyway. How is this helping our children? The school focuses way too much on MEAP and the kids suffer for it.
Hands down terrible school. Parking lot is rediculous. Fire lanes blocked, cars parked everywhere. Heaven forbid there be an emergency. You can barely pull in with a compact size car, let alone a heavy duty fire truck. Childs classroom was a mess. Coats and backpacks in a pile on the floor, name tags ripped off mailboxes. The principal is beyond rude. She told us to come during lunch hour for a school tour (we were new). She rolled her eyes when we came in and said she was too busy, but would do it anyway. Barely said a word to us, just pointed. Faculty doesnt take time to know students by name. Theyre just another face, not seen as individuals. You can tell they dont care. My 8 year old was told he wasnt allowed to walk 200 yards to the corner because he was ''too young.'' Instead they tell me I either have to walk from 1/2 mile away, or some how manuever through the chaotic parking lot. Which, by the way, dont ever park in, unless you want to find yourself stuck inbetween cars who have parked behind and in front of you, perpendicularly, and are left empty. Switching schools next year, if i can even deal with it that much longer. Very disheartening.
The only reason I gave 3 stars instead of 2 is because there are teachers there that do make a huge positive impact on my children's lives. The office staff is very polite and courteous. However, there are many teachers that use screaming as a means to communicate with the children. The Principal change two years ago has negatively affected the quality of the school. She is rigid and cold. A far cry from the previous leadership and not a friendly face for the children. The parking and child drop off is abysmal to say the least. The inside of the school is set up silly. It is more like cubical classrooms instead of traditional classrooms. All the teachers can be heard at times by other classrooms and is distracting. The biggest complaint is that the school teaches to the MEAP, period.
The school is amazing. The staff is always helpful and nice. What the school lacks is a horrible and non-updated website. That is not my worry. The parking sysem in that school is a disaster waiting to happen. God forbid an emergency were to happen, but a fire truck would not be able to get within 300 feet of that school. This is mainly due to incompentant parents who think that they are more important that everyone else. Cars park in the bus lane and in the entrance way just to save a few steps walking to the school. I dread everyday that I have to take my son to school. The school knows of this problem but has made no effort to correct it.
Congratulations to Ebeling Elementary's Staff, Teachers, Students & Familes on thier Exemplary Blue Ribbon Award!
Nothing but great things to say about the entire staff of Ebeling Elementary. From the principal to the custodians to the parents! Ebeling is a wonderful place to be! Education doesn't get any better than this! If elementary schools could be in the 'IVY' League, Ebeling would be right at the top.
Ebleling is a wonderful school to attend. It is located within several neighborhoods and is considered a walking school. The families are very close due to the location of the school. The principal is outstanding as he has assembled a teaching staff that has to be the best in the district. There are many extracurricular activities at the school that are attended by the vast majority of families. Ebeling Elementary is a great school because of it families, teaching & support staff, & principal.
I think Mrs. Fertah is one of the best teachers at Ebeling. This is my son's 1st year at Ebeling and he has done more work one on one with Mrs.Fertah then he did all year at his old school. She has a way of working with my Autism child's paradoxical combination of precocious talents and social difficulties to help him learn how to engage more fully with the school. She is working with him on understanding rules of appropriate behavior, and becoming an active participant at Ebeling.
My children attend Ebeling Elementary and we have had a great experience there. The teachers are wonderful and the principal is very caring. The parents are very involved. Ebeling is like a big family.
I personally attended Ebeling and am proud to say it was named in honor of my Great Grandfather, Floyd H. Ebeling. I am currently in the 8th grade and can truly say i learned more than enough from Ebeling. The staff is extremely frindly and the extra curricular activities are exciting for all ages. The parent involement is phenomenal and without them the school wouldn't be the same. Although you may be reading this thinking well she's only in 8th grade what would she know, I know that some of you are really considering a place for your child in Ebeling. From my point of view that would be a great idea.(for you and your child)
I have never seen a school where the teachers and parents are so involved with the children. When you walk through the doors, it doesn't take long to realize you have just entered an AMAZING environment. Because of the tremendous commitment of the teachers, principal and staff, we will not be moving any time soon. Our children are learning in the very best possible environment. They are loved and cared for, as if they were in their own home.
Ebeling Elementary is a great school that has very unique and special characteristics. Ebeling is known as a 'walkers' school in that most of the students are able to walk to school due to the school being located in the middle of a number of large subdivisions. As such, the parents and students are very close and supportive of the excellent teaching staff at Ebeling. Parental involvement and support is exceptional. I have two children at Ebeling and could not be happier with the educational and community experience my children and family have.
Ebeling Elementary is a fine school with a close bond to the neighborhood. The principal, teachers, and staff are extremely responsive to what goes on and very receptive to comments, questions, and suggestions. Overall the school is state fo the art with plenty of computers, other media, in class technology, even a production video facility where students 'anchor' the morning announcments for the schools closed circuit video system. IBooks are available for any student K through 6th to sign out (parental signature), and the media center is always upgrading books and other content. The school is currently recieving an science center addition (about 3000-4000 sq. feet) which will be done by the end of the year. The plans for the center look excellent. I have two children in school there and am very happy with the school.
