My son started Kindergarten this year. Our experience has been great! His teacher is wonderful and caring, the principle is at school events hanging out with the kids & having fun and the latchkey program keeps them active and having fun by getting involved with them before / after school. My son is receiving help with speech and the staff has been very helpful and patient with him.
When my kids first went here the secretary and 2 clerks were very warm, friendly and caring. Now the frumpy office staff seem to have an attitude and they ignore parents instead of greeting them. What a shame!
If your child has ANY special needs this is NOT the place to send your child. Special needs program is horrible!
The principal (Dr. Brosky) is a very strong leader and very visible and responsive.I think he's doing a great job of keeping the hallways safe and the building secure. However, the student to teacher ratio is very high. Many of the teachers seem overwhelmed and stressed. I was particularly disappointed in the kindergarten program. Two of the teachers seem very burned out, lacking in patience and ready to retire.
Not happy with this school. The teacher/student ratio is too high. The kids are not getting the education they should. The assistant principal is known to be very mean and unpleasant to the students.
I am not pleased at all with this school. The faculty has little patience. The assistant principal is known to be very rude to the children. Many parents are not happy with her.
Our son just started second grade and we have been very pleased with the school since he started last year. The teachers seem to provide the right level of teaching versus self-learning. The Principal keeps the school under great control and is also very friendly.
Not too pleased with the school's lack of assistance to children that need 'a little extra help'. Reading assistance is only available K to grade 2?! Also not pleased with the fact that the teachers are gone from the school within minutes after the students leave. This makes it difficult for the kids to stick around and ask questions about their school work (in fact they are encouraged to leave when the bell rings). It's also difficult then for a parent to contact the teacher regarding questions on the school work or in general. Not too thrilled with the latchkey program. Mostly high-school or college-aged persons that are too busy talking to each other or on the phone to actually pay attention to what's happening around them.
Cheyenne has an incredibly devoted staff that goes beyond teachers and right through to the office and custodial staff. There are so many different ways to get involved for students and parents! and if you can't find something that sparks your interest, you are more than welcome to spearhead an idea. The teachers are loving and care beyond the classroom. Mr Roberts sure knew what he was doing when he brought this group of people to work with him and develop the sense of community. I'm sure that he took the same care in bringing Mr Brosky to the team as the new principal and look forward to my kids getting to know (and love) him too!
