I love this school! Teachers really watch out for kids. My son is learning so much. In 8th grade, he's taking a HS level math class. He loves his electives, and he's involved in a tech after school program.
The principal there discriminates against the "bad kids" My child got in some trouble over the summer and now he gets in trouble for EVERYTHING in school. He had his pant legs folded up to prevent them from dragging on the ground and they said it was a gang sign and sent him home. Another time my son cam to school tired looking so they called the police to have him drug tested searched and they cut the lock off his locker. He would have opened it if asked. After seeing he was clean they sent him home. When he came back to school they lock was still off his locker and everything in there was stolen. The school wouldn't revise the cameras to see who had taken his things. They are rude, discriminative, and don't care about the
I thought Mancelona schools were the best until my child started middle school. She went from loving school to hating school. Whats going on? I rate this school a big fat 0!!!
In Mancelona we have excelent teachers. We also have a lot of after school activities. We have an Algebra class for the eighth graders. All grades get a choice of band. Instead of band fith/sixth graders can choose computers and gym.7/8th graders are required to take a marking period of computers, gym, art, and carrers. The down side about our school is there were 11 bomb threats in this 2004-2005 year. Our principal has been really great about making sure we are safe.
