The school is a newer build, so facilities are nice. For the most part, the teachers are engaged and caring, although there's always one or two that could be better, the 80/20 rule I guess. The parents at this school are involved. The stat on here that lists 16 kids for every full time teacher is way off. My 3rd grader had 26 in her class this year and my 1st grader had 24 - too many! I do agree that we should be allowed to give feedback on the teachers, and that they should be evaluated twice a year based on results. I don't know any job out there that doesn't care how you perform on the job!
Although Im a non custodial father living a short drive out of the area I can say Im impressed with what I know and have been involved in at Walters. My daughters in second grade and I have been very happy with both her k / first grade teachers / all staff members. In general all of the staff have been helpfull and understanding with our unique suition. I also wish to note the schools houskeeping staff, as a retired professional at a lg hspt. in that general area its of comfort to know my daughter is learning not only in a positive environment but a clean one as well. I HIGHLY rec. this school.
Wonderful and caring staff. The school focuses on the child's entire experience at school - not just academics (though that is there). The staff builds on character and kindness, through example, teaching, ecouraging, and providing a safe and nurturing place to explore and grow into the individuals they will become.
Walters Elementary School has a positive environment that focuses on positive behavior characteristics for the children as well as on academic achievement. I have always found the staff to be willing to listen to my concerns and to follow up with me regarding the progress toward those issues. My son is academically advanced and requires some enrichment during the school day. The school is willing to provide that for him as well as helping me to find ways to enrich him at home. I am very pleased with the education that my son is receiving at Walters.
