My son attends kindergarten at Morton and loves going to the special classes such as art, music and tech. However, he is quite bored with the classroom curriculum. Going on the 3rd month of school and we are yet to even meet his teacher. I had a question to ask and left a message on his teacher's answering system and still have not received a return call. The principal is rude and has no compassion. I believe they run this school like a business and are more worried about making money than providing an atmosphere where parents can be involved other than doing fundraisers. All the flash without backing it up with quality.
An all around great school with great leadership. This school teaches children how to participate and become a leader by example.
My son had been a student here for two years. The academic programs of Morton are camparable to any other school. Nothing real special. They have an arts and music program, but again it's average. I am glad my child attends Morton. I just wish it was more challenging.
I have had four of five children attend Morton Elementary School and, I work as a paraprofessiional at this school. We moved to Marysville from Oklahoma seven years ago. My children have improved academically and self-esteem. My children's teachers are kind and yet nicely structured so that the children know what to expect and what is expected from them. I have had very positive experiences in Morton Elementary by the teachers and the principal. As a parent I do not feel unwelcome ever by my children's teachers. I have always been openly invited to check on the progress of my kids. Our principal is concerned deeply about the success of every child. She also takes extra strides to enforce equal treatment and respect of parents to the enth degree.
My two children were the 3rd generation to attend there. Due to a lack of leadership, the climate of the school changed. For the academic and emotional well being of our children we withdrew our children. The teaching staff is very talented, however; they are working under very stressful conditions. Under previous leadership the school earned the state of Michigan's Gold Apple Award. Scores have consistently dropped under new leadership. Parental involment is limited.
