My wife and I have had 3 children go thru this school system and can't say enough good about it. Just remember as a parent you get out of it what you put in to it. This is in response for those latch key parents who want the school system to be a baby sitter. I have been involved with the sports teams and the music program and have to say that it is tough to find students who are as well mannered as the students at this school.. Paul Taylor

Absolutely no discipline. The students are running the school. The high school principal avoids dealing with problem students. The school board is as inept as I have ever seen.

The administration from the school board to the principals is lacking in real leadership. The administrators appear afraid to tackle the old gaurd teachers who need to retire, and they fail to tackle major discipline issues. Avoid Mayville until we get a school board with some brains and guts to make the right administrative decisions.

Mayville High School is really improving, when I am in the school the students are curitous and I see that they are treating their teachers with respect. Grade wise I feel that the students at Mayville are on par if not doing better then the surrounding schools.

My student is a senior at Mayville High School so I have seen this school in action for 4 year and I can say that the teachers want the students to sucseed. Dissaplin is great at Mayville, students are expected to to be responsible for their actions. Mayville also have a brand new middle school which is gorgous. The one negative that I could give mayville schools is that they dont offer soccer and some clubs were cut out of the program.

Mayville High School is really improving, a few years ago I was getting concerned about sending my kid there but now that they are getting discipline under control and offering some really great programs, Talking with the teachers you feel like they truly care about the students learning. I would highly recommend Mayville high school.

This school literally has the worst discipline I have ever seen in a school (and I myself went to an inner-city high school!). It's shocking! You think a small town has safe, happy schools but Mayville is the opposite. The children are out of control! The board needs to step in to do something. I for one will be taking my child out of here to go to another school.

About the tests

In 2012-2013 Michigan used the Michigan Educational Assessment Program (MEAP) to test students in grades 3 through 8 in math, reading and writing; in grades 5 and 8 in science; and in grades 6 and 9 in social studies. The MEAP is a standards-based test, which measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Michigan. The goal is for all students to score at or above the proficient level.

Beginning in the 2011-2012 school year, the Michigan State Board of Education implemented new definitions of what it means to be proficient on the MEAP test. The new standards for proficiency are higher than in previous years and the percent of students earning a proficient score is expected to be lower as a result of this change.

About the tests

In 2011-2012 Michigan used the Michigan Merit Examination (MME) to assess students in grade 11 in reading, writing, math, science and social studies. The MME is a standards-based test, which measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Michigan. The goal is for all students to score at or above the state standard.

Beginning in the 2011-2012 school year, the Michigan State Board of Education implemented new definitions of what it means to be proficient on the MME test. The new standards for proficiency are higher than in previous years and the percent of students earning a proficient score is expected to be lower as a result of this change.
