Mayville Elementary has been a GREAT school. I've had great communication with all the teachers my 4th grader has ever had since kindergarten, great communication with the principal. There is help for students who are having diffuculty learning, after school program for tutoring. For the parent who said that the teachers don't smile anymore, not true. I see them smiling alot when I am there. And to say that it is more like a prison camp, I have to disagree with you. You must not realize that there has to be rules to be followed to ensure the safety of the kids and their well being. It's the real world. When your kids get out of school and get a job, are they going to quit that job because their boss has too many rules or stipulations, or runs it like a so-called 'prison camp?' Wonderful small town school!
Both of my sons began their education at Mayville Elementary School. They continued their education through the Lakeville school system, and then went on to the University of Michigan. They are now both PhDs in theoretical nuclear physics. I would like to thank all the teachers who had a part in their education. My vote is for the Mayville Elementary School for building the foundation for their sucess. Thanks to all the teachers who taught Jason and Jeremy.
This school rates among the lowest scored schools in the area. The high school guidance counselor is the worst that I have ever seen. Regardless of what issues that you may have the school system will never supporty you. I would not recommend this school to anyone.
The school does not follow through with their promises and if a child has a learning difficulty the answer for them is to suspend them when they are hyper, they will out right tell you that it is not their problem, they also make many false accuisations
Although there are some fantastic teachers at this school, there is an incredible lack of discipline. Recess is a mad house. I am very disappointed to say that I am going to pull my child out of here because of the lack of discipline and respect in this school. It's a shame because there are beautiful new buildings that I am paying for w/ my tax dollars and my children will never use. But, it's more important to me that they learn in a safe respectful environment.
My son has gone to Mayville for the past 5 years and will not be going back! I have seen the school go from a fun place to learn to no less than a prison camp. Some staff will not e-mail you back with an answer to a problem if thier life depended on it. The teachers hardly ever smile anymore because there is so much bickering between them. It does affect the children in a negative way. Bullying is way out of hand including verbal bullying and nothing is being done but to send offenders home on suspension so they can play video games for 3 days. I'm fed up and pulling my child.
Mayville Elementary has been an excellent choice for our son. The school is easy to work with and excels in communication with home. The teachers we've worked with are open and get to know each child working with strengths and weaknesses to achieve the best for the student.
