EXCELLENT. We came from Austin w/one of the best education systems in the country, & my daughter is doing great here. We've always read to her, taught her math, colors, etc. & she was even learning words before she was in Pre-K & even in Kindergarten she was learning new things & the criteria was great. She was learning great social skills as well, & I'm so glad we got the teacher we did. I couldn't ask for a better teacher, & McBain hires great teachers in general. They take in kids from surrounding school districts because the surrounding districts are so horrible -especially in comparison. We are among that crowd because we are so picky and value education. Even when you walk through the entrance they have banners & plaques displaying awards they've won for the best quality education in the state spanning several years. I have another daughter in middle school & the district in general has an online system where you can log on as a student to see your work/grades & another as a parent w/more info to keep track of your children's grades, work, attendance, and how they're doing in general. Teachers are required to keep class blogs, etc. GREAT parent involvement/information!!
The teachers are so nice to the students and you can tell they really care about their students. I am now in college studying to be an elementary teacher and have hopes of comming back to McBain to teach.
I love McBain Elementary School because of the great teachers & bus drivers, & all they do for all the kids!
We have to leave this school due to a career move, but I would recommend it to anyone. Leaving this school is the most difficult part of our move. The teachers and the administration are top-notch, can't be beat. Excellent education!!
This is a school where your child gets individual attention, which is important to us as ours is way ahead academically but holds back a bit socially. For a public school I think they do a good job of challenging him academically and encouraging him otherwise. He has always liked his teachers and felt 'safe' with them right away. The teachers here are practically hand-picked for the child, especially in special cases. I would give it 5 stars, but because it is a smaller school it doesn't have a lot of options for gifted or challenged students. I think they do the best they can with what they have, but they only have so much. We do drive him here from out-of-district. Its worth it to us.
My child is in K-5 at this school. Learning materials are more than adequate, and I am particularly satisfied with the computer skills the students are learning. Staff is supportive and friendly. Administrators are very involved with student activities, and they seem to know most children by name, which is impressive in this day and age.
I like McBain Elementary School. I think the teachers's are great with the kids. They seem to care how the kids are doing & they send feedback to the parents to let them know what is going on with the children.
