Much of northern Michigan depends on farming and tourism, both of which have suffered because of the recent weather trends and because of the severely depressed economy in this state. I remember two years ago, when my great niece was a senior at Mesick High School and was given as assignment to actually live in a cardboard box for several days. In spite of the fact that so many of the students' families were having it tough economically, this exercise impressed upon the students how much harder life had become for some people who had lost both their jobs and their homes. I was struck by how moved my great niece and her friends were when I overheard them discussing this experience at her graduation party. Not only did the students learn appreciation for what they had, but also learned compassion for those who were less fortunate. It reinforced the old saying, 'There, but for the grace of God, go I.' I graduated from a much larger high school in the Chicago suburbs years ago, but I always remembered social studies classes as being a dry study of facts and figures. I was very impressed with the practical demonstration the students at Mesick High School were given, which I'm sure will stay with them the rest of their lives and make them not only better citizens, but better people.

I think this school is one of the worst in the area. I will never alow my children to go to that school. Although some teachers are good, others are not so much.

I think this school is doing a lot better. The staff is really kicking it up a notch. Except for the security cameras. They need to go

This school is alright but the prinvible is not very good with punishments, also she does not take enough time to make out school a better place. But the teachers are incredible.
