I switched to this school for 8th grade from another school. I had been at the other district since K but had been left behind in a lot of areas educationally and was having a problem with bullying due to the size of the other school. Switching to Montrose was GREAT! The teachers threw themselves into helping me, and I went from having failed almost all my classes at the other school to A's and B's. The students themselves were generally nicer and more accepting, and everyone knew each other. The teachers knew if a kid was having problems at home, what we were behind on, and made an effort to keep us at a good level of understanding.

I am not pleased with this school district. My child is being harassed and nothing is being done about it. There theory is: Just talk to the kids...Also when it comes to our kids taking their helmets off for the national anthem, they don't....I consider that disrespectful. This school is more worried about holes in the kids jeans then to teach them respect for each other and for this country. Some of the coaches are disrespectful towards the kids...If I had the option to pull my kids out I would...

Its a great place. The library is big, the computers are new and the teachers aren't afraid to give us a challenge. This year eighth grade got top in the county for the English MEAP test. The teachers are focused on getting us to memorize what they teach with time to let us ask questions.
