I am not of fan of Newaygo schools. Whenever I had a problem, I would go in and attempt to talk to someone and I would get the run around. Never a clear answer. They always pop up your childs name on the computer, and let you know how they are doing. (I just wated a question answered!) The teachers always fall back on 'the parents arn't involved'. Whenever I am at conferences, it is packed. Maybe you will get a chance to see 3 out of 5 teachers. Everyone is treated like a child not a young adult.

I am a substitute teacher in the Newaygo County area schools, and, as such, I have been in every high school in this county. Of them, Newaygo is far and away the best. I attended here also, and things have definitely changed, but for the better. Newaygo has some terrific teachers, great administration, and is overall a really good academic experience. I would love to send my own children through this school. The problems I've seen there have been mostly due to a lack of parental involvement when it's most needed. I commend those who are involved - these kids tend to do better overall. But it's funny to me how people will complain about their child's performance and discipline issues, but yet never step foot into parent teacher conferences to help correct the problems... don't blame the teachers. These are your kids. It's time to take some responsibility upon yourselves.

Newaygo is the greatest school I have ever attended. It is full of great teachers who have made learning a lot more fun that is lived up to be. The first comment on this page about how negative this school couldn't be further from the truth.

Newaygo high school needs alot more support for new children starting. Established students,(notall) need more discussions, assembly's, about judgement of others, acceptence of others, kindness towards others, feelings, make them 'put on the other persons shoes' would they like it if someone treated there child like they treated other's? Unfortunetly this is not exagerated at all. Simply unbeleivable what my daughter and others expierenced. All our children had simular expierences. Teachers remember there title 'teacher' then friend. Not to worry about being 'the cool' teacher.Talk, Talk,Talk more with children today, everyday, We all relize this world is much more difficult to raise children these days then inthe past.School should not be part of the difficulties in life children are faced with today, but many are, not justour's. Schools are no longer a safe, secure place forchildren. but with more love less judgement. 'We all together' couldchange this.

I went to the Newaygo school system and overall it was pretty good. At the time that I attended, there were not many options for every student. The band that I was in dramatically shrinked and only if you are in sports, science, math, or English did you have all of the oppurtunities. There were not as many social sciences or overall involvment as there is now. There was also a trend of cliques. I would say that Newaygo has just grown faster than it can handle and can only get better even though it has been a good school system.
