Ring Lardner may look good on the outside, but let's look within. The office staff is rarely welcoming. There are a few great teachers and the looping works for many students, yet the rest are stuck with the same teachers for 2 years. Academics may be challenging, partly due to the teaching strategies, (mostly lectures, very little hands-on or differentiated teaching.) This is NOT helpful for special needs students. Homework s assigned to students who may not even understand it and many parents are not equipped to help. Some of the classes don t even have textbooks! The administration needs MUCH more professional development training!!! RL claims, as do most schools, to support parental involvement; however, there s no PTA / PTO. There are a few "advisory meetings" a year, where parents seem under scrutiny instead of being there to brainstorm, question, or offer feedback. It s a cold, shady place to learn!

Teaming and looping help make this school unique. Great staff committed to helping every child succeed.

My daughter is an eighth grade student at Ring Lardner this year. She has received excellent teaching in the department of math, however, the language arts is lacking any qualified teacher.

I moved here from Dowagiac and their schools were poor. Niles schools are wonderful. The teachers seem to really care about their students. My son is on the honor roll thanks to the combined effort of the teacher and staff.
