Awesome school and we welcome the new principal. I have met her and she brings a new energy to us. this year will be a super one!
It is true that teachers make the school. We had amazing kindergarten year and horrible first grade. I have tried to correct the teacher situation but instead was made to be a bad parent. We will not be returning to a place were they let a teacher to be a bully. Principle is retiring so maybe new one will listen to parents concerns.
Amerman Elementary school matched my speed in early learning. I went to this school beginning in the 3rd grade when I was accepted to the ALPS program. The interesting, compassionate, and VERY active teachers helped me regain interest in a school system that was not matching my rate of learning. There is no better place to send a child, even outside of the advanced learning programs. Furthermore, the no put down zone in Amerman made me feel safe and secure when I went there (and I was not cool at all.) There was a small amount of bullying, but nothing substantial. These were my best school years by far.
In the past, I have put my kids in private schools all over the US, and thought it was the best education I could provide for my them. Amerman has surpassed everything I have seen. It is just an amazing dynamic: from classes, activities, teachers, Dr Anderson and his amazing team. My children love going to school and I don't blame them. I wish I was a kid again.
I used to go there for the Alps program after attending Winchester from K-3rd grade. I was amazed and excited for all the clubs and extra-curricular activities there were. I loved the ALPS program and learned far more than I have any other year in school.
great extracurricular activities. great teachers. dr. anderson is such and underrated principal.
I have two children at this school. I find EVERYONE from the teachers, office staff and principal to be kind and helpful. We have not had bully problems but my kids are younger so I can't speak for the older grades. I know of only one child who was a bit of trouble on the playground and I know that the principal did get involved to correct the situation. As far as I know there have not been any more problems with the child in question since the principal has gotten involved.
I am a parent of two children who attended Amerman. The teachers were very helpful and worked with the children to be successful. The discipline needs to be improved. Although Amerman is supposedly a 'no put down' school, there are bullies who are not appropriately disciplined. The principal does not help to make children feel safe. Children are not held accountable for their behavior.
This school offers an ALPS program for gifted students. The PTA has a 100% parental involvement! Both the PTA and Principal offer many after school activities. High parental involvement is encouraged, which is great! The teachers for the most part are approachable and helpful. There are a few bad apples in the bunch which are unfortunately there due to tenure. On the downside, there seems to be little if no consequence/follow through with kids who bully. The kids who continually bully and their parents are not held accountable for the behavior during school hours. This may be an epidemic countrywide, but there seems to be no shortage of parents who have the 'not my child' syndrome. Overall, great school. The more visible you are, the more smoothly things will run for your family. Office women are extremely arrogant and rude-watch out!
We are new this year to this school and have found everyone extremely helpful. The school worked with us to find the best fit for our children and they are having a great year. We find more opportunities for parents to get involved than we have ever had in the past. The PTA is the most active we have ever experienced, with 100% parent membership. They have movie nights on Friday evenings and many other activities. The field trips always encourage parents to come along.
This school has high test scores & is in an affluent area, we had high hopes. My 'great' students and 'perfectly behaved' kids (from other teachers) were suddenly problems for their teachers in this school.Nothing was accomplished or even addressed about the problems in the classroom. The administration(from principal to teacher to office staff)is extremely arrogant and supportive of each others feeling of no wrong-doing & no accountability to families outside of their way of handling your kids & their curriculum
