The Current Principle at Silver Springs has really altered the great atmosphere and the fun educational experience that the former principle Mr Schnider Created . This is not the Standard Professional Principle that i have always expericened to discuss a issue with at Silver Springs . I was really surprised to have a phone conversation with her pertaining to my issue and the response came acrosse to me as very technical with a long complicted answer that deviated from the core issue of my complaint . Basically the unnecessary deep vocabulary she used gave me the impression that one was on a mission to show and entertain how intelligent one is , with no intention of absorbing what i was relaying and basically just assuming she knew the facts by assuming the Teacher is always right , not true PRINCIPLE . I wish her the best .

Teachers, Staff, Principal and Parents in this school have combined to create a highly effective team. In addition to a solid academic core, students are taught character values and it shows. There are many great programs for the students to help others. The teachers do a great job of motivating students. The school principal is highly effective leader. Many parents pitch in to help with extra events, motor, math parents, fund raising, etc... The PTA is strong. I could not wish for a better school for my children.

Silver Springs is a great school! The pricipal, Scott Snyder is very responsive, and the teachers are constantly ranked high in the district. The Kid's Club program is helpful for working parents. Also, my daughter likes all of the activities that stimulate learning.

I think Silver Springs is a wonderful school. I have two children that are in second grade and kindergarten. The teachers that I have dealt with have been very caring and easy to communicate my concerns to. There is a very diverse student population, which is nice to have in this community! The PTA is awesome and offers many extracurricular activities!

We are extremely happy with the education my children are receiving at this school. The quality of the academic programs is superb. Music, art, spanish, gym, and multiple extracurricular activities are the norm and my kids love going to school every day. The test scores of the kids are better than others. I guess it is a great school with diversity.

About the tests

In 2012-2013 Michigan used the Michigan Educational Assessment Program (MEAP) to test students in grades 3 through 8 in math, reading and writing; in grades 5 and 8 in science; and in grades 6 and 9 in social studies. The MEAP is a standards-based test, which measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Michigan. The goal is for all students to score at or above the proficient level.

Beginning in the 2011-2012 school year, the Michigan State Board of Education implemented new definitions of what it means to be proficient on the MEAP test. The new standards for proficiency are higher than in previous years and the percent of students earning a proficient score is expected to be lower as a result of this change.
