I have always thought Onsted was a great comm. for my children to grow up in. I have been nothing but impressed with absolutely everything! From the teachers to the custodial staff. Everytime I am in the buildings I notice how friendly the custodial staff is and how clean the buildings are!

My son is attending Kindergarten at Onsted this year. He had some special needs at the beginning of the school year and everything worked out great! Mrs. Dunbar and Mrs. Pelty are amazing individuals and teachers, they really care about each child I am very happy with my son's experience so far.

The faculty and students at this school are wonderful. The teachers and other staff members are always curtious and patient. And the students are accepting and very happy children.

We relocated to Onsted from Garden City recently. I am impressed w/ the quality of the school(s) here considering that Onsted is such a small village (about 800 ppl). My 2 son's have been doing so much better here than they were in garden City & I was perfectly content there. A small town is the place to raise a family. My son's teacher's are Mrs. Hunt & Mrs. Gifford whom are both great teacher's!

About the tests

In 2012-2013 Michigan used the Michigan Educational Assessment Program (MEAP) to test students in grades 3 through 8 in math, reading and writing; in grades 5 and 8 in science; and in grades 6 and 9 in social studies. The MEAP is a standards-based test, which measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Michigan. The goal is for all students to score at or above the proficient level.

Beginning in the 2011-2012 school year, the Michigan State Board of Education implemented new definitions of what it means to be proficient on the MEAP test. The new standards for proficiency are higher than in previous years and the percent of students earning a proficient score is expected to be lower as a result of this change.
