Oscoda Schools are the worst Ive ever seen. Cant wait to get out of here. They cater to bullies, sweep every controversial issue under the rug and education is below par.Well below par. School spirit and morale are non exsistant. and the from what ive seen the staff is satisfied just going through the motions. I give them one star for showing up.

I attended Richardson Elementary school when I was younger. I have since graduated and I am now working on a Master degree. I had the worst education going through Oscoda s elementary programs. By the time I finished 5th grade I could not tell time, did not know my multiplication tables, could not spell, and I could hardly read. Teachers were demeaning, discouraging, and in a couple cases abusive. They did not promote parent involvement, and my entire school experience had repercussions that have lasted me a life time. I can see from other comments that not much has changed. I see the test scores are below state averages and the state is low compared to other states. What a disgrace and an embarrassment. Generations of Oscoda graduates are trying to compete with graduates around the country and can t even get their foot in the door. Get it together Oscoda!

About the tests

In 2012-2013 Michigan used the Michigan Educational Assessment Program (MEAP) to test students in grades 3 through 8 in math, reading and writing; in grades 5 and 8 in science; and in grades 6 and 9 in social studies. The MEAP is a standards-based test, which measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Michigan. The goal is for all students to score at or above the proficient level.

Beginning in the 2011-2012 school year, the Michigan State Board of Education implemented new definitions of what it means to be proficient on the MEAP test. The new standards for proficiency are higher than in previous years and the percent of students earning a proficient score is expected to be lower as a result of this change.
