I had two children attend NMC and found the teachers at this school to be some of the finest in the area. They instilled a solid foundation for their higher education; teaching them to be responsible, respectful and giving them a desire to work to the best of their abilities! Every day my children attended this school I felt blessed! These educators genuinely care about their students and their advancements in learning what they need to continue throughout life.

This school has a decent program for younger children but it isn't a good idea to go there for upper elementary or middle school. It does not lay a proper foundation for later. I learned nothing except for history and science when I went there 5 years ago. The programs is very unstructured and it will harm your child if he/she stays for too long

The Program at Northville Montessori is both challenging and stimulating. My son looks forward to attending class each day and I have been very pleased with the depth of his learning.

Having been at Northville Montessori Center since they were 3 years of age, my children(10 and 13) could not have had a better education. My son went all the way until 5th grade, and my daughter is finishing her last year here in 5th grade as well. Not only was my son extremely prepared for middle school he was well above average in all subjects. Mr. Keith, the upper elementary instructor is not only a wonderful teacher,he is excited about the children learning and knows how to keep them motivated. We have been apart of the school 10 years now. It started with pre-school that worked out so well for our children we stayed on through the wonderful lower elementary to the upper el. My children are wonderfully well rounded secure individuals due in part to their experience at NMC.

Northville Montessori Center has a superb reputation. The preschool provides a sound preparation through Dr. Montessori's teachings. My children also attended the elementary, which gave them an added advantage once they moved on to high school. They were 'ahead' in all subjects which made the transition that much easier. Contrary to one reviewer's opinion, the elementary program is highly structured with outcomes and expectations in line with Michigan standards.

The pre-school is excellent. The elementary school is very poor. The unstructured environment does not prepare a child for the structure that is required to learn in higher education. Parents are required to do most of the teaching at home. The elementary teachers do very little. There is no discipline. Bullying is prevalent.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.

What is the GreatSchools Rating?

The GreatSchools rating is a simple tool for parents to compare schools based on test scores, student academic growth, and college readiness. It compares schools across the state, where the highest rated schools in the state are designated as “Above Average” and the lowest “Below Average.” It is designed to be a starting point to help parents make baseline comparisons. We always advise parents to visit the school and consider other information on school performance and programs, as well as consider their child's and family's needs as part of the school selection process.
