Despite best efforts by the teachers, this school's lack of leadership and inability to inspire teaching through application by the previous principal and now the current principal leaves everyone frustrated which ultimately result in poor academic scores. Come on administration...dare to achieve, communicate with each other! Become a team...it can be done & amazing things will happen for the educators & those in your care to be educated!
I have three sons who attend this school very nice teachers who work with your children instead of just sending them home. The social workers are nice and the principal is very understanding. So far this is there first year there and I think the school is better than majority of Pontiac schools.
Our kid spent the first two weeks of school sitting around doing nothing while the teacher tried to get control of the class. We got her transferred to another teacher. Both teachers still struggle with discipline (6 months into the school year). Do not send your kids here if they are white. Charter school, home school, private school, move, whatever you have to do. Bullying is rampant. The principal will not address the issue and discipline the bullies. They just get a counselor for the kids getting bullied and leave it at that. They claimed to be an IB schools but they don't follow the IB curriculum or standards.
I would like to say that I have a son who is currently in the kindergarten. We have a new principal, Ms. Hogan who is doing a great job. She is visible and friendly. She has a lot of new ideas for the school. My son and I say that Herrington is the best school in Pontiac.
