I have to agree with the previous review in respect of the principal. She is very unprofesional and not helpful at all. My daughter was a transfer student in March after a divorce. The principal was very distant and often unavailable and NEVER returned phone calls or emails. My daughter's teacher has been wonderful however. She is very helpful and willing to keep all communication open to help my daughter adjust. It is much to my dissmay to find out she is retiring at the end of this year. Parent envolvement is poor at best, although I do understand this is a poor community and many of the parents work during the day or do not have transportation. I am very concerned about the over all support the teachers receive from parents and the principal.

Quality programs and staff. I can't say enough about the level of professionalism and caring the teachers and support staff exude. My children are challenged to think and learn on their own, as well as part of a team, and they genuinely love their instructors and peers. There are many opportunities for parents/guardians to become involved, and those that do are tirelessly dedicated to providing enriching activities for their kids, whether it be in the classroom or at an after-school event. Staff and parents work hard to maximize every opportunity for our kids! Academically, our MEAP test scores have continued to rise and are more impressive than most of our neighboring district's. Everyone should be proud of this! Our reading/literacy programs are second-to-none in my opinion. Our school/district isn't so large that kids fall through the cracks; they thrive in this environment of opportunity for everyone. It's all about community here!

I think Ravenna Elementary is a great school! I am active in it and believe that the teachers care and it reflects in their teaching. The curriculum is excellent and challenges the kids. It has been my experience that the kids are well behaved (as far as kids go) and the principal addresses matters very well and does great with the kids!

Worst principal around. She makes excuses and very defensive when you try and talk with her. She interrupts you and cuts you off while talking. Very unprofessional and the children she supervisors shows in this because they are just as disrespectful. I hope they replace her soon. They built a new school and what a waste of tax payers dollars that was! If we take our childrent to another school, our tax dollars should go towards the school of our choice. I think if the principals, teachers and superintendents should reside in the same community they work for.
