The school has recently upgraded its promotion standards. The middle school has been pretty quiet and there is a strong discipline policy enforced. The school makes a lot of effort to inform parents of their children's progress and behavior.

I have two children at MTA 3-5 campus and two at 6-8 that has attended since 2005. There is little [homework] sent home if any. My husband and I enrolled our children for, what I see now is MTAs only good quality: the school to school bus transportation.

THe school needs alot of work but with Ms. bosket as the assistant principal the job will be done. She needs an award on how she seems to be runnning the school all by herself with the help of some of the good teachers. The school needs some improvement.

My child is in the 5th grade and I have been greatly disappointed. The class my child is in is so far behind in learning the basic 5th grade requirements. The teachers have no control over the class. There is no homework sent home reinforcing what they are learning in class so a parent has no idea what their child is learning on a daily basis. I would discourage any parent sending their child to this school.

This is the worse school I've ever experienced! I've been trying to find a quality educated & professional staffed school for my daughter. This by far is the worse.

After talking to the principal at my child's building I realized that many new things are coming for my child. She explained to me that people are being put in place in order to improve the program. I just wish that more parent would talk to the principal and find out what's really going on before they become so defensive and negative. MTA is getting better and I will support the efforts of my child's principal...

My child has been enrolled at MAA for 5 years the first three years were good-- due to the principal and staff. Mrs. McClain and her staff as well as the teachers seem interested & caring about the students. But the last year and a half have been terrible, the new principal seems unresponsive. I have only seen her twice since school started. The children have no recess until the end of October-nor can they talk freely during lunch- reason given due to MEAP testing.Academically the children are not challenged enough. Changing of staff happens too often.I would not recommend parents that have children that are well behaved and get good grades to enroll their children at this school.

I feel the academic program could be a little more challenging, however I am pleased with the school. They offer spanish, computers and take alot of educational trips that challenge my childrens thought process. They will be back! They attend the Evergreen campus where the principle knows all the children personally by name!

My son attends this school, and I am sorely disappointed in this school. My son is in the 5th grade, and it appears that since he has been at the Pembroke campus, his academic performance has deteriorated markedly. The teachers are apathetic, the principal is unresponsive, and they don't appear to like to give the kids homework. At the Meyers campus I had open access to talk to teachers, but at the Pembroke campus, it's like they have something to hide. Also, teachers will give your child a bad grade on a report card before you even have a chance to address any problems that the child may be having. It's like they don't care about the children. I'm searching for another school for my son. Don't send your child to this school!

MAA does not provide the students with the skills that they need to compete in the top schools in detroit, let alone in the suburban schools. to send my graduating 8th grader to Detroit Country Day, U of D Jesuit High, Cranbrook, Mercy or Ropher would be a challenge because MAA only prepares their children for Detroit Public High Schools, which are inferior to the latter schools. I have just learned to pick up the slack though. If you want your child to be prepared for higher education other than detroit public high schools and receive a great education, be prepared to become an extremely active parent in your child's educational activities, because MAA is substandard. thank you---MAA parent.

Correction: The school officially split..the K-4 has one principal (Meyers Str. location) and the 5-8 has a new principal (Mansfield Str. location), for the 2003-04 school year. This brings enrollment up between the 2 schools, close to 600 students. Several of the teachers do not have strong control or good classroom management skills.
