Teacher effectiveness: Very effective
July 19, 2015
Our fifth grader had a phenomenal teacher this year, Mr. Wright. We wanted our son to have a positive male role model and that's exactly what we got! Mr Wright treated our son like his own. He saw potential in him, challenged him in his weakness, and always spoke positivity into his life. Academically Kyler grew, but because he was believed in he also matured emotionally and mentally and became a more positive and confident kid. Anyone who has the privilege of having Mr. Wright as their child's teacher will have not only a fantastic teacher but positive mentor for their child as well which I know all good parents want for their child! Kyler Martinson will always remember his fifth grade year with Mr Wright and that is a huge gift!

Develops respect: Agree

I appreciated the utilization of Steven Covey's book, Seven Habits of Highly Effective... This helped develop respect and leadership in the students.

Overall we have had a positive experience. We enjoy being greeted by the principal with a smiling face, the administrator's office have always communicated well with me and have shown concern when my son was going through a tough time or had an injury. Most teachers are fantastic and genuinely care about their students. We especially appreciated Mrs. Kling and Mr Wright.

If you have a child with social, emotional or mood disorder. Then this is not the school for you. The principals were not helpful to me or my child, did not offer any solutions to his struggles. He got blamed for things that were not his fault and he ended up feeling like he didn't belong there. I pulled him out and now we're homeschooling.

The principal here will say anything to please you and do nothing to follow up on her promises. She is poorly informed and very demanding. I was very unhappy with my daughter's placement - which the school failed to inform me of until a couple days before school started. They refused to change her to another teacher. Information home was always spotty with promises to improve it, but they never came to fruition. The teaching staff is very nice, but overburdened and not particularly enthusiastic. The office staff is top notch.

I was very skeptical when I pulled my children from a charter academy and placed them into Gull Lake Public schools. Both of them had been in accelerated classes in the charter academy. Upon placing them into Gull Lake, I was very amazed. Where they once were able to breeze by with little or no difficulty, they now have to study. They are being challenged to maintain good grades and for that I am very happy. A bored mind can get you into serious trouble. I would also like to add that the sports are plentiful. My kids bounce from one sport activity to another and are very proud of their accomplishments.. The teachers and coaches are all excellent and I've not encountered one problem that couldn't be resolved. The Gibson family
