We came from a private school and academically it was too easy for my son. He said the kids could care less about grades and learning. Kids were very mean. And while not bullying, they swore a lot and it offended my son.He said the kids seemed to care more about how cool they were then what kind of intelligence they showed. Teachers and staff seemed to really care but the home environment of the children didn't seem to nurture academics. The only problem was that parents sent the problemed children from other schools to catholic schools so that leaves no place for a child that just want's a really good education!
I have two children in the district and I also attended Seitz and Riverview High school and I am a school of choice and the district is great the other wasn't good for my children and as far bullying goes other have more problems and the teachers don't care and Riverview is great and cares. The other district only cared about the money not the kids. I have helped out in the past and plan to again this year.
i looove seitz middle school it is great there are wonderful teachers and a beautiful princple
My children attend Seitz and Huntington Elementary before that. The academics in both schools is lacking rigor and they routinely teach to the state tests. They break their arms patting themselves on the back about how great their mediocre MEAP scores are and there are plenty of social issues to deal with. Their choice of honors classes and language courses is appalling. When it comes to parent involvement it's almost non-existant. The Parent Club struggles to find enough volunteers to staff the events. As in all schools, there are some really great teachers who care and make a difference. The administration works hard and cares a lot also. The school would benefit from increased parental involvement demanding better academics for their kids.
Again, experience is relative. It's wonderful you have had a good experience. However, my son was bullyied here. His friend was also bullied. Its not uncommon. If your child is popular you might not be as apt to hear these stories. There are plenty of clubs and ways to check grades I agree - but the social atmosphere and administration response to problems needs updating. When problems do occur with behavior/bullying they dont' have a clear cut way to address problems other than most severe physical cases. They simply 'talk' to the kids or blame the child being bullied. The district refuses to address social problems in a formal antibullying policy which others districts have. There are no guidelines for behavior such as rumors, name calling, verbal harrassments. There needs to be an overhaul of the district's policy. HIgh school gets only worse and there are daily fights.
I can't believe some of the reviews on social setting. We came from another district and my daughter has had a wonderful experience. The kids seem to be very accepting of each other. Not as many cliques as from where we came from. My mom has a variety of different friends from different backrounds. Kids are very accepting. The teachers are very involved in after school activities and really care about the kids. The academics are demanding but my kids are excelling. They have a system where parents can check online anytime and see the child's grade and assignments. Keeps the parents plugged in. There are many clubs for the kids after school and many activites. I love this school so much I drive my kids fifteen miles to get there everyday! I highly recommend it!
This school is great I love it here. The teachers are so nice and they are really helpful. Ialso really like the principle and vice principle here too!
Academically they are okay. However, I agree about the social setting. It isn't conducive to different ethnicity and cultures. Teachers/staff aren't thorough in finding out the truth when it comes to disagreements between the kids. I was told by the Vice Principal that it wouldn't be a good thing for my child to come to her class to see how she was doing for a day. And I can't believe that they charge for summer school? That was new to me. Well, we'll see if the high school is any better equipped to deal with social issues.
I am very happy that my daugther attend Seitz Midle School. The teacher, Staff are very professional and in the acedemic area my daugther improved 100%. Thank you teachers and staff for helping me as a parent make this possible.
Seitz Middle School has a dedicated staff and they enjoy having fun with other students.
