Hart is a top-notch middle school! Our youngest child is currently in 7th grade and is having the same positive academic, social and extra-curricular experience as our oldest child who is now in high school. The administrators and teachers create a healthy and secure environment for learning, and the Principal is visible, approachable and very responsive to students and parents. There is something for every type of student and although it is a large school, it feels as though each child gets appropriate attention from teachers and staff. I could not have asked for a better middle school environment for our children.

My 3 children attended hart middle school and they had no problems what so ever. Some of the teachers have been around for awhile and are much loved and respected. It is nice for your kids to actually want to go to school to be in their science class or language arts because the teachers make learning fun.

About the tests

In 2012-2013 Michigan used the Michigan Educational Assessment Program (MEAP) to test students in grades 3 through 8 in math, reading and writing; in grades 5 and 8 in science; and in grades 6 and 9 in social studies. The MEAP is a standards-based test, which measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Michigan. The goal is for all students to score at or above the proficient level.

Beginning in the 2011-2012 school year, the Michigan State Board of Education implemented new definitions of what it means to be proficient on the MEAP test. The new standards for proficiency are higher than in previous years and the percent of students earning a proficient score is expected to be lower as a result of this change.
