We moved from out of state and moved within the Musson district based on our research. We've been pretty impressed 1 yr in with teachers and curriculum. We were however mis-lead by classroom size it's more like 24-26 per class we have a 3 rd and 5 th grader. They teach an advanced math curriculum but offer no after school or one on one help for students. No nurse on site either which I found odd for such a large school. The teachers are the main thing and ours are FANTASTIC!

My oldest daughter attended Musson for 3 years and in those 3 years she's struggled at keeping herself at grade level, the teachers cared more about classroom parties and events that didn't pertain at all to the educational assessments of the students, she was singled out by certain teachers, negatively criticized by them and discriminated against by many parents because of her foreign background.

My girls have been students at Musson for a few years, and I am very pleased with the school. The principal is amazing, and the teachers are devoted and caring. Bravo Musson!

Musson has not been the best experience for my boys. Very early in their academic careers they were labelled by their teachers and the principle as under performers. I spent a lot of money on tutoring over the summer to bring them up to their respective grade level. Why could the tutor do it and the school could not? They cannot seem to handle a child that does not fit into their mold.

Our oldest child just finished Kindergarten and we couldn't be more pleased with how welcoming the entire staff of the school was. The entire process was very smooth, and the Principal is personally involved with the children and the families. The special attention and extra help our son has gotten for reading and writing development has been outstanding supported by not only his kindergarten teacher, but the assistant teacher in the class, and the learning consultants that make him feel like getting extra help every day is a treat. Couldn't ask fo more.

This is the greatest elementary school I ever had for my children. The school accomodates individual needs of students. Teachers are very flexible and devoted. The current principal is very creative and caring person.

About the tests

In 2012-2013 Michigan used the Michigan Educational Assessment Program (MEAP) to test students in grades 3 through 8 in math, reading and writing; in grades 5 and 8 in science; and in grades 6 and 9 in social studies. The MEAP is a standards-based test, which measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Michigan. The goal is for all students to score at or above the proficient level.

Beginning in the 2011-2012 school year, the Michigan State Board of Education implemented new definitions of what it means to be proficient on the MEAP test. The new standards for proficiency are higher than in previous years and the percent of students earning a proficient score is expected to be lower as a result of this change.
