(second half of my post) as though Rose City is sub standard and being compared to West Branch, in the way it was worded. There are SEVERAL students that need Para pros in West Branch as well, that is not limited to specific geographical areas, there are many places of which some children need special help or assistance etc, not just rose City! and WOW I hate to tell you but most all schools 'Teach to the test', that is one of the reason I decided to Home School, because I feel state education guidelines requiring students to only learn specific things chosen in order to peg hole all children and dumb down, instead of allowing children to flourish in their own creativity and development. It is not the teachers who chose the State required curriculum, they follow what the state requires to be taught and that is too stifling to the vast creative minds of our youth.
Like most schools in this state, our district has been forced to make huge cuts in the budget and the Rose City schools have been effected the most due to our small size and lack of leadership and parental involvement. Schools in West Branch tend to have parents with more professional careers and more autonomy than RC which is composed of more working class folk with less time to spare. Some great teachers here but they lack resources such as computers for kids in 2nd grade and under and they need more para-pros and parental involvement. They are forced by financial concerns and poor leadership to "teach to the test" here. We do not have art classes, have very limited music classes, whereas the west branch schools do have these and more. Yes there are some positives, teacher to student ratio, small town attention and teachers that are dedicated to education and work here to make a difference, not to gain the most financially because they can't here. Teachers all know students very well.
This is by far the best elementary school I've had the pleasure of being involved with. The student/teacher ratio, the caring staff, just everything in and about this school is wonderful.
