This school has small class sizes and wonderful, supportive teachers. The price is reasonable and they will not turn anyone away based on their inability to pay. They take field trips monthly and the teachers work hard at making the lessons meaningful. They are a certified Michigan Green School, offer 1:1 technology, Spanish Immersion, and a nature playground to spark creativity. You won't be disappointed in this school.

We have 2 children currently enrolled at St. Basil Catholic School and my wife and I wouldn't have it any other way. If you have children anywhere between pre-K and 8th grade, you would be extremely wise to give this school consideration. After all, what is more important than the education of your child. The proof of this school's success is clearly seen in the Michigan Educational Assessment Program (MEAP) tests. St. Basil students consistantly have advanced scoring. Way to go kids!!!

The children at St. Basil School are not just another number, like they could be in the public school system. There is wonderful care and dedication given to the students by the teachers and staff. Father Bob is a great Pastor! If you are thinking about where to send your child or children to school, give St. Basil's serious consideration. I am sure they would be happy to give you a tour anytime.

With a student to teacher ratio of approximately 1:15, St Basil's offers one on one attention academically that is not available elsewhere. We have/do send our kids there first because of the outstanding education with MEAP scores far superior to surrounding districts and secondly because of the faith based culture that teaches them to respect teachers, parents, each other, and themselves. This educational community is fostered by wonderful teachers and extensive family involvement. A wonderful opportunity for kids of all ages!

We have had three children attend Kindergarten through 8th grade at St. Basil School. Two have graduated from college and one is still in high school. All three of our children feel that going to this small school on the shores of Lake Michigan was one of the best decisions we made as parents. They often comment on the excellent education that they received at the school. All three children have grown to be well-rounded successful adults with a passion to help others. As parents we attribute much of their success and character to that great school overlooking the beach, St. Basil's!

Our children attend St. Basil. Teachers, students and parents benefits from the small class size. Teacher stay in close touch with parents. The culture of the school is all the good parts of Christian education: Students and staff look out for others -especially those less fortunate -inside and outside of school. Academics?... 90+% of St Basil grads go on to college. Father Bob -there are no words that adequately describe this humble, outstanding role model. The kids love Bob because his caring spirit shines so brightly.

I have two children that are doing wonderful! The teachers care about each and every student. It is great to see teachers spending time with each and every student. I feel that I am very lucky to have my children in St. Basil and would invite others to take a look at our school for their children. The Meap scores are just amazing!

Wonderful school, dedicated staff, and highly involved parents. The kids learn manners and appropriate behavior from the first day. You will see hats removed inside the building, doors held open for others, greetings and smiles for passersby, respect for quiet times and much more. Older students mentor the younger ones on appropriate behavior for church and assemblies. I have never regretted enrolling my son at Saint Basil! He has become a great student with learning skills that will carry him into his high school years.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.

What is the GreatSchools Rating?

The GreatSchools rating is a simple tool for parents to compare schools based on test scores, student academic growth, and college readiness. It compares schools across the state, where the highest rated schools in the state are designated as “Above Average” and the lowest “Below Average.” It is designed to be a starting point to help parents make baseline comparisons. We always advise parents to visit the school and consider other information on school performance and programs, as well as consider their child's and family's needs as part of the school selection process.
