Taylor International Academy

I am a parent at Taylor International Academy and I think this is a great school. They have a wonderful academic program and also a wonderful after school program. All schools have issues however, I think that the staff handles all issues accordingly. I feel safe when my child is there and I think the principal is doing a great job. Go T.I.A.!!

I am a parent at taylor o]international academy. This school is the worse ever. They punish all the kids. The teachers act like they have given up. The principal is worthless. The after school program is to expensive and and the staff is not trained. There are so many bullies in the school. No one even cares that good students are being bullied. Parents are pulling their kids out for the next school year. The school does not have parent conferences. This is a lost year for my child.

This school has been the greatest disappointment of my life. There is no leadership. The principal is a joke. He needs leadership training, and communication skills. He needs a realistic view of what is going on in his school. He also needs to be present more to find out or see for himself. Some of the students that are enrolled have severe behavior problems, and are not getting the help they need within this organization. There are so many fights and instances of bullying. My daughter was told that her class could no longer have gym because the class was fighting to much! The principal has lost control of the school, the students do not respect him. The curriculum ideas are great, which is why I came, however, the chaos within the class rooms prevent very much learning to happen. the teachers are trying but with no support and a class full of students with behavior issues, it is only so much they can do. This is a poorly run and managed school, I feel like our children are just being warehoused, and people are making a profit off just having children in their building.

I must say that I am very pleased with TIA. I transferred my daughter here from a Southfield Elementary school. When she arrived at TIA she was not at a 1st grade level at all! I can drastically see the difference in my daughters test scores from the fall to the winter. Every teacher and staff of TIA seems to have a genuine concern for each student. The principal Mr. Burowski is very approachable and is active in each classroom. The 2011-12 school year is only their 2nd year open and I can tell the great strides the children are making already! Thumbs up to Ms.Holloway & Ms. Thompson
