This will be my daughter's last year at Harmon before entering middle school. I think Ms. Vico is an exceptional teacher and very pleased with her teaching capabilities. I would also like to commend Principal Gaglio for her involvement, communication and genuine interest and concern for Harmon students during 2009-2010 school year.
I have 3 children at this school and everyday they come through the doors with a huge smile on their faces. They truely enjoy being at school! Over the years I have watched parent involvement increase considerably, communication strengthen, and the PTO take a more professional and personable approach towards the school community. I am proud to say that the staff and administration here at Harmon is wonderful and feel fortunate that we were able to have avoided losing some of them as a result of possible budget cuts. Overall, it is a friendly, safe, and comfortable environment to learn in!
Harmon is an excellent school with dedicated teachers and an active PTO that involves parents & children with outside activities that support the classroom.
My son went to this school before they even had a play area in the back, he is now in 11 grade . I now have a daughter in this school in the 1 grade and I think so far this admin, and teachers are doing a great job teaching, especially if you compare from then till now. I cut out many boxtops for the playground that my daughter uses today. Keep up the good work...
Since I have been sending my children to Harmon Elementary I have seen the parent participation increase by leaps and bounds. The parents have been getting more involved with the PTO which I am a part of. Our PTO is the only one in the district that gives the teachers an additional allowance each year for supplies. Our kids seem happier because they see their parents getting involved. If I had to choose a school it would be Harmon hands down. Not to mention how great the teachers are..........
I just read a review about parents being disappointed about the gym. Did they forget that the Harmon staff went out of there way to make other arrangements for classes. Such as Pump it Up who donated there place so our children could have gym class, and this year Princeton Elementary, who is sharing their gym with our children of Harmon. I also want to thank the Harmon Staff for going out of there way for our kids at this time.
Although We love the kindergarten teacher at Harmon, I pulled my children out of there by first grade because of the lack of discipline, educational quality, parent involvement was awful, and during the 2006-2007 school year, there was no gym available to the students. When it was too cold or rainy, the kids had gym class in the Art room and many of the days they colored! Not exactly a great physical activity for children who are cooped up all day. We are extremely disappointed with Harmon and would recommend any other school.
My husband and I are so disappointed with Harmon. Our son is in 1st grade but with the education he is getting (or lack thereof) you would think he was still in preschool! When my son tells me he's bored at school and can he skip school and he's only in 1st grade, you know there's a problem. We're checking out other options that may even take place before the next school year.
Since my son has started attending Harmon, he has improved a great deal. This school has given him the special help that he has needed with his school work, and the teachers have been great. The best part I love about Harmon is the Parent/Teacher involvement. I have never seen a school that both have worked together for the kids as much as this one has. A special thanks to Mrs. Gaglio and the teachers and staff for a great job that they have done.
My son is in 2nd grade and this was his first year at this school. He had trouble staying focused and finishing work. His teacher went out of her way to help me and my husband teach him the skills he needs to stay on task and be organized. She is a phenomenal teacher and Harmon is a wonderful school.
