Thank goodness for Avalon Elementary School! The staff goes above and beyond to meet the needs of all students. It is a friendly, warm, caring school with a rigorous academic environment! There is no better place for children to learn and grow socially, emotionally and academically! Thank you, Avalon!

As a parent, I am so appreciative of all of the monthly family events at Avalon. It is such a family centered school where parents can be as involved as they want/can be, and for those who have a lot on their plate, there is no guilt if we cannot be as involved as we may want to be. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful and definately goes the extra mile for student success!

I transfered my child out of Avalon to another school and what a difference! He just finished his first day and was so excited about his new teacher and classmates. The teachers and parents were so friendly and helpful not at all what I encountered at Avalon last year. Talented, dedicated teachers have a huge impact on a child's success. Avalon needs to do some house-cleaning!

A wonderful school. Great teachers, staff and parents. Its obvious that most of the ratings listed on this site are those of opposers and not supporters of this fabulous school. I will make a plea at our next PTO meeting to have parents who love this school, and there are many of us, speak favorably on Avalon's behalf. Go Panthers! :)

I have transfered my child out of this school. I asked for the simpliest things from the staff, and was never given what I asked for pertaining to my son. I would not recommend this school to anyone. Beware of the lack of urgency regarding young children's future.

This school has been great for my children. Mrs Boehm is a wonderful Principal that cares about her Avalon families. The staff has been great throughout the years. I highly recommend enrolling your children.

The above quotation is so unbelievably untruse it makes me sick to think that someone would post that. The truth is that while Avalon Elementary is located in St. Clair Shores, a predominatly white suburb, the school promotes diversity in the classroom every day. I am white, my children are white, however, my nephew is both white and black. He has never had a race issue, as a matter of fact the only race issue I have observed was an incident where my son, who is white, was told that white people are not cool, and that he wasn't cool enough to hang out with the black kids.. he came home upset, but was back to playing with his friend the next day. Children find reasons to make fun.. it's the parents who weight it down so heavy with adult issues. Ignorance starts at home not at school!

This is the best elementary school I have ever had my boys enrolled in. They have been there since my youngest son was in first grade and they have been there for four years now. Every teacher is phenomenal, you don't have to recommend one over another each year because in my opinion they are all equally exceptional. The academic programs are all above average and they even have an experimental math program which has helped my children excel in math...way above the national average. It is a very close-knit community, there is lots of room for parent involvement and it is always welcome. Even if you don't get involved in much though they still welcome you and they know you by name as soon as you walk in the office. It is a very personal setting. I would recommend this school to anyone over even private schools.

I have twin boys who currently attend avalon. I have had absolutely no problems with faculty or students. Their education is excellent and they have made great friends. As for the previous posted comments about race difficulties, I havn't personnaly noticed it, but that is not to say it doesn't exsist.

I am not a parent of a child in this school but attended Avalon as a child. When I moved to GA, my education was far more advanced, at least 2 grades, than anyone else at my grade level. Therefore, I believe this school was an asset to my education and hope that this is still a good school for the elementary children of St. Clair Shores.
