My children attended Rodgers for three years, unfortunately we had to move out of the district this year and they are attending another school. I loved all 6 of the teachers I interacted with. Each of my daughter's three teachers worked hard to help her with her educational needs and create a learning plan that kept her moving forward. The amount of teacher/parent/child accountabilty was perfect. I never had to guess at their homework assignments, they were clearly marked on their agendas. The teachers walked the children out every afternoon and were available if you needed to discuss an issue. The teachers were prompt at returning parent concers through both email and telephone. I just feel as a whole that Rodgers Elementary is right on mark and if for some reason life brings us back to the eastside of town, I will be Elated to return my children where I know their education and safety are taken seriously.
Our child is currently in first grade. Its our second year in; I m going to say that: parking is very limited, there is no air conditioning, and private school may be cheaper. Every month something is requested from the parents, this school is struggling for status, but it s clear that its facility is too small to accommodate. I think this school lacks student discipline, and coherent staff. If you would like a part time teaching job, have a pocket deep enough to continuously meet the schools demand, and love to retrain your child when they come home. Then this is the school for you. Request: Make a parking lot behind the building, find funding for more qualified assistance, enforce conduct, and maintain schedules. These are the flaws; the good is never given as much credit. Go Rockets!!! .
very disappointed with administration and lack of consistency. office staff is also rude like other parents have said. it is very sad knowing how hard the teachers work, for the front office and administration to scare parents away. very unwelcoming environment and we moved into the area so that our children could attend this school. the more the above group of staff know you, the ruder they feel they can be to you...BEWARE!
I've been a member of the Rodger's Family for many years now and will be for many more years to come. I love this school and its staff. From the administration to the teachers and to the support staff. To me, it is truly a family atmosphere. In my many years, I have never witnessed the office staff to be rude to a parent, unless that parent gave reason. I myself have had to set parents straight while witnessing their abuse towards the office staff. There is reasons we have rules and regulations. The staff is there to enforce these rules for the safety of all of our children. My four included!!!
I too had 4 children that attended Rodgers Elementary and am very pleased at the education they received. Because that is what it is about, your child's education, not whether you like/dislike the staff. I have witnessed some behavior that might be construed as rude, but it was the parent that pushed until the staff had no choice. Some people don't know their limits.
Rodgers school is a wonderful school with some cool events. The teachers are so sweet and wonderful but the office staff are very rude to parents and students and even to teachers! The principal is kind of out of her mind, to think such things. But the school is safe and clean. (my four children agree)
I have to agree with the parent that stated 'you will never find someone more condescending and downright rude to parents'. But, thankfully, the teachers make up for it.
We moved this year and unfortunately had to change schools for our kids. I think Rodgers is a GREAT school! Not only do the teachers care and work hard, I think the Administration is wonderful (believe me, I've had to work closely with them) - they have always treated me with honesty and respect.
I am a parent who has been at this school over three years. It is a good school. It is a safe place and is clean. Your children will learn a great deal. The teachers are good and the groups of kids are very good. However, problems can be found with the administrations side of things. Especially with the front office- you will never find someone more condescending and downright rude to parents, and often teachers and students. Unfortunately no one will put her in her place and therefore there are many many parents who have problems before they even get past her desk. Even to volunteer! The principal is currently in her 2nd year and is good, but discipline policies are not consistent. Also, a new superintendent just started- so he does not yet have a track record.
I am a substitute teacher and have had the pleasure of teaching at this school. It is a clean, safe, supportive environment with an incredibly dedicated staff. The kids are always extremely respectful and enthusiastic when I am there I visit many different schools in over six districts and this is by far my favorite elementary school.
