i am a student that goes to Stephenson High School. I think if you have the right last name or your mom or dad have anything to do with the school you defintly get special treatment while others are just passed over. The kids are usually always nice and welcome new students but its the teachers that have a lot to do with it. They are role models for us and most of them are not very good ones at that.

This school is a wonderful school that has a lot of extra curricular activities for students. I would recommend this school to anybody.

Everybody has a great chance to be involved with activities. Parents shouldn't blame the school for everything, sometimes it's the parents or students fault.

Nepotism is alive and well at SHS! Certain kids get all the attention and acclamation while others just get ignored and passed over like they're invisible.

I have two kids that attend the Stephenson High School. They are very happy in this school! The friends they have made throughout the years is amazing. Even new students from other districts, towns, states or countries are welcomed with open arms. The kids in this school are so supportive of one another. I could not ask for a more positive peer group for my kids. I only wish more kids could experience the closeness of the kids in this school. The High school memories my children will make will be with them for a lifetime. I am Proud to be a Mom of Stephenson High School Kids!! GO EAGLES!

About the tests

In 2012-2013 Michigan used the Michigan Educational Assessment Program (MEAP) to test students in grades 3 through 8 in math, reading and writing; in grades 5 and 8 in science; and in grades 6 and 9 in social studies. The MEAP is a standards-based test, which measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Michigan. The goal is for all students to score at or above the proficient level.

Beginning in the 2011-2012 school year, the Michigan State Board of Education implemented new definitions of what it means to be proficient on the MEAP test. The new standards for proficiency are higher than in previous years and the percent of students earning a proficient score is expected to be lower as a result of this change.
