THIS WAS MY SONS FIRST YEAR THEIR AND LAST I DONT RECOMMEND ANYONE TO GO TO THIS SCHOOL. MY SON GOT BULIED, PUSHED AGAINST THE LOCKERS, CHOCKED AND BEAT UP IN THAT SCHOOL AND IN MR CONDIES CLASS. I HAVE COMPLAINED SO MANY TIMES TO THE PRINCIBLE AND NOTHING WAS DONE. MY SON GOT BEAT UP AGAIN TODAY AND ONE OF THE STUDENTS WENT AND TOLD MR CONDIA THE BAND TEACHER AND HE SAID I REALLY DONT CARE. THE FRONT OFFICE ARE VERY CARELESS AND MRS CUTTINGHAM IS VERY PRIJIDIS. I HATE THIS SCHOOL AND I WILL BE CALLING THE BOARD AND SHOWING THEM THE PICTURES THAT I HAVE TO PROVE ALL THE BRUSES.
My daughter just started at this school and I have been very impressed. Mr. Bernier really cares about the kids and academics and the possibility for advanced classes and extra help and simply outstanding.
Im currently a student here at DJH and i love it here. the teachers are fair and reasonable and the advanced classes are challenging yet reasonable. Theres always extra help if yuou need it and many clubs and activities going on 24/7. Great school i love it!
this school is great my dream was to this school i used to be a student of heritge and let me say that davis has a better envorment for the students and put everything for the students
I have two children who have attended Davis. Mr. Bernier is great! He is open to parents ideas and loves what he does. The offfice staff is always friendly and helpful. Lots of great teachers.
this school is great. i am currently doing great in my advanced classes, and having fun at school.
I have been to 3 Utica Community Schools I have really enjoyed all three! The principle involvement at Davis is Top Rate Mr.Bernier really cares about the kids and their well being both accedemically and socially. I believe that more parents should get involved in the school program to help with extra curricular activities! The more parents are involved in the school system the better and better it gets! The Teachers at Davis are dedicated to the students, when a student has shown a need or interest to the teachers subject matter I have only seen positive results! The teachers set aside time before or after school to help accomodate the kids! This earns them an A in my books. I would recommend this school highly!
First of all, there is a new Principal at Davis, Mr. Bernier and he is extremely dedicated to the students academics and personal well being. The teachers ... some good some not so good, as with most schools. Regarding extra curricular, there's really very little, not much for kids to get involved with, it's a shame. Parent involvement is okay, I've seen better. My child is 'his own person' and has difficulty with the bullies, the administration doesn't watch closely enough, children should speak up but it only causes the child more grief. All in all it's OKAY.
I loveeee this school! Its really fun, and I learn a lot there! I am a cheerleader, but there are also a lot of other extra curricular activites; volleyball, track, cheer, basketball, football, etc. There are advanced classes with excellent teachers. The whole school is kept clean, and safe.
This school has a big bullying problem period! And although the stafff claims they have a good policy in effect for this problem, they don't! They brush off these issues and keep them hush hush, and if you are thinking of sending your kids here, you better be prepared to have your child 'keep up with the jones' and fit into a crowd and not be themselves or they will be picked on, and nothing will be done. You will be told that they cannot tell you what diciplin was giving to the bullys 'by law' these bullies are protected! And the victims just keep getting victimized, I will not send my child back to this school next year and I have other children in elementary that will not go to this school
Davis is an amazing school. It offers many different classes, electives, and extra corricular classes. The teachers are very supportive and will help the students whenever needed. I don't think I would want to go to any other junior high school! :] Go Raiders!
i think our school is pretty decent. it offers accelerated classes and normal classes which gives oppritunity to the super smart kids. The teachers are really nice, and understand the students. GO RAIDERSS<3333
My child is currently a 7th grader at this school. This district is slacking in many many ways. I hear from the parents who 'drank the Kool-Aid' and think Utica schools are wonderful, however there are MANY issues found within this school and district. A LOT of students who attend this school seem to be disciplinary problems, the teachers do not (or will not) go the extra mile to help ANY students (my child currently has a science teacher who literally gives poor marks to students if they use a binder that's not blue in color!). This year, my child had only 3 electives to choose from for the year. The district is dead broke...mostly due to the administration heavy costs which seem to be the problem here. I HIGHLY recommend sending your children elsewhere (as I will be doing next school year).
This school has pro and cons. The teachers are great and are very supportive. This school really is a challenge if you decide to get lazy. The only bad thing I can say is the students in the school. Lots of peer pressure and drug/alcohol abuse.
Great environment for students-good teachers that care and are willing to work with parents, but yes, parents need to be involved in their child's education.
personally my child has an IEP the help he gets is slim and I must fight for it and make the first move on trying new things. So far this new school year we have been in for 17 days and he had 12 missing assinments which I wouldn't have known if I didn't email each teacher myself and ask how he was doing with a child having an IEP it should not have been put off for so long w/o contacting the parent.
Great school! Never had a problem where the teachers weren't accessible to help my child or me. Awesome...The best band teacher! couldn't imagine having my child with any other band teacher. New principal is hard to rate, but the rest has been great.
This school is great for people. I don't know anyone that doesn't like the school. I have not had a problem with anyone worker in the school and this is a great place for your kids to go.
Slightly above average, great band teacher, good coaches in sports. Would like more emphasis on new technology (computers, blackboard, palms, ect.)
