Profile Completeness

ADVANCED

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

The Valley School is a combination of arts, sports, and education. Being a college preparatory school, it has a very, very strong curriculum. Equally important, the teachers and staff members are unimaginably dedicated, and the school truly feels like a second home -- a family.

The Valley School develops a complete student. Our child is learning to think critically and to value art, music, and sport along with math, science, and history. The wonderful thing about Valley is the interaction of the older and younger students. The youger students learn how to be a great student and citizen from the older students.

It is very difficult in just a few words to communicate how the decision to leave public school and come to The Valley School, has changed my daughter s life. How do you express the value of the invaluable? Perhaps it is not something that can be described in words, but what I can tell you is this The staff, administrators and students here create an atmosphere that is beyond school . It truly is an extended family. The Valley School is a safe, quiet, friendly and caring place to get a great education and I am very glad my daughter attends the high school here.

I graduated from The Valley School a few years ago, and I firmly believe it is the best school in the area. With small class sizes and great teachers, I was able to get a personal help on my schoolwork when I needed it. The classes definitely can be challenging, but when it comes time for college, that challenge is a blessing, and the teachers are willing to help with questions. High school students are also afforded free hours as long as they keep up with their schoolwork. The reason for these non-class periods is to introduce students to the task of managing their time, which can be one of the main challenges for students going into college, and free hours are Valley's way of getting students ready for that transition. t is a unique school, and it encourages creativity in the students through its art program and traditions. All grades are in close proximity to each other, so high school students often have chances to interact with the younger students, whether that be during gym classes, recess, or as classroom aides. I highly recommend The Valley School to parents who want to provide their children with a great educational experience.

The Valley School is the best! I have been at the Valley School for 6 years. I couldn't imagine ever leaving. The school is like my family. Everyone is so nice in their own way. I love them! <3

The teachers and peers at this school are amazing and I love the hot lunches that every student or teacher may order which are on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays

after trying public and charter schools, we found Valley, and finally found a school that could challenge our son. Everyone immediately becomes family and you always feel welcome. It's nice that they can tailor the studies to fit your student, giving more help when needed, and not holding them back when they accell. Everyone plays sports-no cuts. The kids are taught to be leaders by the time they leave. My son is a senior, and I'll miss needing to be at the school so much, but I'll still visit.

My daughter has been in The Valley School for 4 years. Not only is she receiving a top-notch education, she is becoming a complete student and person. Valley School emphasizes art as part of an overall education, while Public schools are getting rid of "non-core" programs that do not relate directly to standardized testing. Valley School kids are able to be themselves in a safe, familial atmosphere. Valley is great for kids who would be college bound no matter which school they belonged to, but I have noticed the biggest impact on kids who would be lost in the Public School system. These kids go to college ... and succeed. Valley School is a phenominal school.

Valley is the coolest little school I know. It offers everything a larger school offers, but because of it's smaller size, it can be so much more for it's students. Academically it can't be beat, and the kids that go to Valley leave with a strong sense of self and community.

Valley takes each student and helps them develop their potential. Valley teachers are so special - they care about each child. Kids are nutured, taught to question and think, and are well prepared for rigorous programs in prestigious colleges. Students also care about others and their community as they are encouraged to participate in community service.

This is our first year at Valley and I can already see the difference in my children. My children are very smart and I didn't feel that they could get what they needed in a public school. I now wish I had sent them to Valley from Pre K. What a fantastic school!

My son is brilliant and Valley allows him to shine and flourish instead of stagnate ...Valley nurtures the creative resillent narture of kids and they respond in leaps and bounds in their growth and development as people. Thank you Valley you saved my son from a system that is in a quagmire of no funds, burnt out teachers and kids who don't see a way out. Valley deserves praise for sticking it out , some years on a hope and a prayer but somehow they have remained a beacon in a community that has been stereotyped as a lost cause.Valley is clearly leading its students to the next tier of their lives with a familial fierceness that every kid needs. Go Gators!

I can't say enough about this school. Although it's not in the fanciest building or have the most modern environment, at it's core, it is exactly what a school should be. My daughters only grow up once and I want their school experiences to be positive and nurturing. Valley provides that for them. They get all of the benefits of a larger public school (i.e. competitive sports, extensive art programs, foreign language, etc.) but they can't get lost in the crowd or the classroom because the school just isn't that big. And the focus on college preparation is not only excellent, it's really changed the way our daughters view their future and their career options. I wouldn't send them anywhere else.

The Valley School is the best education offered in this region. Our gifted child has an individualized curriculum and is finally loving school. The faculty is top-notch and are there because they love teaching, love the school, and have extensive expertise in their fields. The school's philosophies and methods are model for creating life-long learners who have meaningful purposes.

Excellent school in Flint! My family really loves this school. Ability based academics offer all children a chance to excell and grow at their ability level. Small class sizes and constant encouragement from teachers and students assist in instilling self esteem in the kids. My kindergarten age daughter started reading and doing great in math a few months after starting! Great science program, daily phys ed, exceptional arts and music program, foreign language taught as early as kindergarten makes this a special school for all children. Additionally, college prep is the focus for upper schoolers. Tuition plans make it affordable!

The Valley School is one of the top schools in Michigan. Teaches students to be individuals not only in their work but in life as well. The atmosphere and faculty is one of the best in the nation!
