This is a great school. The principal, Ms. Martin, is wonderful!!! Her door is always open. They are coming up with lots of new programs and stuff for the kids to do. I would never take my children out of this school. Ms. Fayta, the Discovery teacher is the best. She is the main reason I am keeping my children at this school.

Be very careful with this school. It has been through a parade of principals and the latest one takes the cake. She chose not to keep two of the best teachers she had in the building. Ms. Patee and Ms.Blacquire were outstanding teachers who did everything for the kids. I am taking my four kids out and sending them somewhere else.

BRPSA is a great school my children attended the school and I was very happy with the curriculm, after school activities, and the teacher involvement. I in error took my children out of the school due to transportation issues. This was the biggest mistake I have made! BRPSA is worth figuring out transportation.

I have been a parent of a BRPSA child since the 2004-05 school year. The school my child was attending before BRPSA was not challenging my kindergarten and was exposing subjects to him that would have destroyed his character. I was attracted to BRPSA due to its all day kindergarten, their monthly core values, and the class ratio and of course the curriculum. At the time I enrolled my child in the middle of the school year. He was not reading. By the end of the school year not only was he reading at a 1st grade level, he was spelling, doing algebra and had a great understanding of science and social studies. The homework he would bring home, I was unbelievable. I found myself at times saying to his teacher I was not doing this until I was in the 3rd grade .

Ben Ross is a great school. The principal is nice and smart. All of the teachers are helpful. I have been at this school for 6years and this is the 1st year that I have received help in my school work from a principal. Ms Prain is my favorite teacher.

Ben Ross Public School Academy is a wonderful school. Because of the work our teachers do to help us to achieve better of ourselves in academic achievement. Our principle Eric Chism, and other teacher's like to stay after school to help us student's achieve more in afterschool tutoring.

I am extremely disappointed with this school. It has nothing that is advertised!!! I pulled my son (was in 7th grade) out in the middle of last year due to the poor management and leadership (or lack of it I should say). I do not recommend this school. I hear they have a new principal now but things are no better than last year.

My son has been at Ben Ross since 4th grade and my daughter since kindergarten (2cd grade now). The school changes principals too much and when they finally got a good one (Mr. Harris) they let him go. He was very involved with the students and the parents he was great. Now they have this new stiff man who is very unapproachable and dry. And to top it off the school is relocating to 9 mile and Woodward. Good luck my son is graduating this year and my daughter is not going back! Dueces!

I appreciate Ben Ross for not failing children so easily. I like the full school days, not having any half days at all. The teachers do give alot of input about each students' academic performance. The parents are encouraged to be involved with their children, school events and meetings. What I would like to have changed is the cost of the latchkey program. It is too costly for a weekly flat rate of fifty dollars per child and forty for each additional child. Another thing I would like to see change is the tardy policy, one minute late is not enough time missed to get a tardy pass. Getting a tardy pass takes away more class time by standing in a long line waiting to get the pass. Last, there should be less tolerance for profanity, bullying and rudeness.

My daughter was a victim of bullying. Nothing was done about it. The principal could never be found and did nothing about it. He wasn't approachable either. Also, you never know who in the world your child will have because the same teachers never stay there. So you don't know who they will have from year to year. Not a really good atmosphere if you ask me. Why come here when it is no better than DPS?

As the Technology Manager at Ben Ross, I have the highest praise for this school. The administration led by Mr. Harris is Top Notch and the teachers and staff are the best and concerned about the students education. The teaching staff prides itself in how much learning and knowledge they can transfer to the students and utililize technology in their daily lesson plans. It's very rewarding to see the happy, smiling faces of the students and the excitement of the teachers as new concepts are learned. I would highly recommend this school for all K-8 students.
As a teacher at Ben Ross, I can say for myself that there is no fear or resentment created by Mr. Harris. He is an administrator who is holding the teachers accountable for the learning that happens in the classroom. Student achievement is our number one priority and this can only happen in a learning environment that is well managed and controlled by the teachers. If and when this is not happening, teachers are called to the carpet on it, as they should be. Of course this is not going to go over well with teachers who may need some additional development in their teaching pedagogy. As a parent myself, I would be more concerned with my child's education and progress than with the teacher displaying a sense of fear or resentment because they were confronted with something they are or are not doing. This admin rocks!

3 stars 1 Star: Mr. Harris the principal is not good. He does not listen to the parents or the teachers and he allows an atmosphere of fear and resentment in the teachers. 5 stars: The Teacher are great, they go above and beyond the call of duty. 3 Stars on extracurlar activities are great.

This is a GREAT school and all you have to do is talk to the students or parents that go there. The school is clean, teachers are enthusiastic, the principal is in the halls and I don't think you can find a better school in the area. Whatever the problems were in the past, they have turned it around. Highly recommended!
This is the worst schools I have sent my child to. The teachers have no control of the classroom and there s no disciplinary action when a student is bullying another student. There are too many students in one classroom so it s difficult for a teacher to have control. If you complain about bullying it will temporary stop the bully will just pick on some one else and continue to make verbal threats. My child was stress and afraid to go to school. I didn t wait until next year to pull my child out of this nightmare of school. What happen to Zero Tolerance to verbal threaten and physical abuse? Few suggestion take discipline action with Bullies, teachers need assistances for class total over 28 students. I will end with a positive comment the school is keep clean.

This is a very good school! My kids has been enrolled here since 2005. The principal, Mr. Smith is wonderful and caring. Any concerns I've had he has address them right away. The school does have many after school activities for the kids and a great girls and boys basketball team. The teachers are young and want to help your kids...they don't have those old teachers that are set in their ways.

My child has been attending Ben Ross for 2 years now and we love it ! The teachers are dedicated & caring, there are many extra activities to choose from & my son's grades are excellent! This school is very clean & feels like home! My son even loves the lunches! Please disregard the 2 bad posts from '06, those parents did not even give the school a chance ! The parents involvement is getting better this year as the school continues to grow and improve and my family is happy to be a part of that!
