Great school with good teachers at least when I attended In the 90's. I especially remember how they got the kids engaged in reading.

As seen my reviews, the current principal has been there since Fall of 2010. The principal prior to that was so much better.

Principals make or break the school. Teachers go based on the atmosphere created by the leader. This principal is down right offensive and mean! I would never want my children to have to deal with this woman! I worked there for 2 days, after 2 days she went off on me because of something I wrote on my PERSONAL facebook page, about looking forward to working there to see a child I had worked with in another school. She was out of line, she was invading my PERSONAL business and she had NO CLUE what she was talking about, I never mentioned names, so I did NOTHING wrong! Parents come to this school at lunchtime to supervise their children because so much bullying goes on. No to this school! Sad thing is, this principal is heading over to Houghton Elem next yr to ruin it. I pray for all the teachers, students and parents! REAL sad too, because currently Houghton Elem is a wonderful school.

The principal and teachers care sooo much. They go above and beyond to help our kids. From the Hidden Valley Ranch veggie grant to the success center, they are always trying to find more ways to help our kids.

As a third year PTA President and a full-time volunteer at Waterford Village...my children are in the best Elementary school in the district/county. I have heard it all and seen it all happen right here...this secret little school is hidden in the far northeast corner of the district with only 12 outstanding teachers and an amazing principal that is very active and supportive of our PTA and too the parents. I will be SO sad when my last one is ready to leave Village...its truly a family that works together.

My daughter has attended this school since Kindergarten and is about to graduate. I have had absolutely no problems at all! I think all the requirements are met and some over and beyond. My two boys went to PEP program and I think the school has done a very well job on reaching beyond the norm. Every staff member is polite and helpful. The teachers that my kids have had all have been awesome. I highly recommend Waterford Village!

I absolutely love it here. I switched schools to come here and do not regret the switch at all. The teachers are concerned, supportive all you could want. I would and do recommend this school all the time.

I'm not a village parent, although my child is being tutored by a village teacher. This teacher is completley responsible for bringing my child up to speed, restoring his confidience and making him feel like an effective member of his school community. She had clever tricks, suggestions & silly sayings to help him remember things. He now excells because she truly cared, took time from her busy schedule to whole heartdly help him.I cant honestly answer most of the questions to rate this school, but asume that it rates high based on conversations with some of the staff and parents! way to go village. :)

About these ratings

About the tests

In 2013-2014 Michigan used the Michigan Educational Assessment Program (MEAP) to test students in grades 3 through 8 in math, reading and writing; in grades 5 and 8 in science; and in grades 6 and 9 in social studies. Currently, GreatSchools' ratings reflect 2013 MEAP results; ratings will be updated after 2014 Michigan Merit Examination (MME) results are released. The MEAP is a standards-based test, which measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Michigan. The goal is for all students to score at or above the proficient level.

Beginning in the 2011-2012 school year, the Michigan State Board of Education implemented new definitions of what it means to be proficient on the MEAP test. In addition, they have recalculated past years' results using these new standards for proficiency, making the above year-over-year results comparable.

What is the GreatSchools Rating?

The GreatSchools rating is a simple tool for parents to compare schools based on test scores, student academic growth, and college readiness. It compares schools across the state, where the highest rated schools in the state are designated as “Above Average” and the lowest “Below Average.” It is designed to be a starting point to help parents make baseline comparisons. We always advise parents to visit the school and consider other information on school performance and programs, as well as consider their child's and family's needs as part of the school selection process.
