Last night was the parent/ teacher meeting after the 1st day of school. My son has returned to mainstream and is in 5th grade. Coming from West Bloomfield school district to Walled Lake I found that not only was my peace of mind calmed (I have another son who is Autistic), but they were helpful trying their best to give a WIN/WIN back to everyone involved. The principal is kind and approachable. Mrs Straight & Mrs Coppersmith I couldn't praise more after meeting them before school started. Everyone strives to keep the family involved with even an ONLINE Access to follow your child's progress. I only wish they had the SNAP program that Walnut Creek uses implemented here as well. The kids would benefit from it. Otherwise, as a parent, I say thumbs up for anyone looking for a new school for their child.

I believe that this is one of the most intimate (small) elementary schools you will find in the public school system in Michigan. This lends itself to small class sizes, which means that students have more time with the teacher. There is a family atmosphere in this school that is created by the principal and teachers and carried over to the parents. Therefore, the children are taught, encouraged, disciplined in a family like atmosphere. The staff utilizes the DuFour 'Professional Learning Communities' process for the framework for academics, learning, and improvement. This is also utilized throughout the entire Walled Lake District. I would suggest this elementary school to anyone that was searching for a very inclusive, progressive and family type environment for their child(ren).
