Although this school is scheduled to close at the end of the school year, I felt the need to share my review. My daughter has attended Ealy since Kindergarten and from the moment she walked through Ealy's doors, she has been happy. I chose to send my youngest child there for Preschool to experience one year at Ealy. The teachers are both nurturing and knowledgeable. As far as the principal is concerned, he is very dedicated. I've never felt that I could not approach him, nor did I feel that he wasn't open to parents offering to volunteer. Ealy will be missed.

I was a parent at Ealy and left last year along with the other 30 or so families because of the approach of the princpal. The teachers are great and its a great facility, large and open.

My child has attended this school for four years now. I find the current principal to be very involved, professional, and caring. He is always visible and shows a genuine interest in my child's education.

As a dad that would like to be more involved I find that the principal is not very encouraging or very engaging of parents to be more involved. On the postitive note my daughter and sons teachers are wonderful. The staff is very warm and friendly.

My daughter has attended this school for three years and I must say that I am very pleased with the experience she has had. The teachers regularly communicate with parents via email and classroom newsletters. Each time I volunteer in my daughter's class, I am impressed with the level of student engagement. I find the principal to be a strong leader. He is friendly, professional and most importantly, he cares about the success of the students.

All of the staff at Ealy work really hard to make it a great place to learn. People who walk in for 5 minutes have no idea how much effort is put into teaching and working here. Give us a chance. We do great things here!!!!

The principal lacks warmth, approachability and knowledge of young children. Not a very kid-friendly approach by the principal.

Please do your child a favor, and go elsewhere. What ever your request is, you will be turned down by the Cold Hearted principal. The restrooms are disgusting!

I have to stay I was quite disappointed when I went to visit Ealy. I went with my neighbor whose child attends Ealy. She speaks very highly of the teachers but I was quite disppointed in the lack of artwork in the building compared to the other schools. I also found the principal to very unfriendly and unapproachable.

My first impression when walking into the building was that everyone was tense and cold. Based on observations of the Principal interacting with students and staff, he seems to be 'old school' in regards to his leadership style; maybe bullying others is the only way he feels he can earn their respect. My heart goes out to the students and staff of this school.

This school has great diversity and potential, but the staff is not diverse at all.

I love the community the principal and the teachers. I unplease with the open school enrollment program that was started I have two children that were there and have saw the decline first hand though one og my children has completed i have elected to remove my second child from this school and it is not due to the teachers they are wonderful and very patient, but there is a change and my child deserves better sorry!

We have two children at Ealy and are absolutely delighted with the school. The sense of community that the staff, students and families create facilitates a safe and inviting learning environment. Their regular and special education staff members consistently go beyond their job descriptions to meet academic and affective needs of all students. Finally, strong leadership ensures maintains cohesion amidst all of the facets of this school.

About the tests

In 2013-2014 Michigan used the Michigan Educational Assessment Program (MEAP) to test students in grades 3 through 8 in math, reading and writing; in grades 5 and 8 in science; and in grades 6 and 9 in social studies. Currently, GreatSchools' ratings reflect 2013 MEAP results; ratings will be updated after 2014 Michigan Merit Examination (MME) results are released. The MEAP is a standards-based test, which measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Michigan. The goal is for all students to score at or above the proficient level.

Beginning in the 2011-2012 school year, the Michigan State Board of Education implemented new definitions of what it means to be proficient on the MEAP test. In addition, they have recalculated past years' results using these new standards for proficiency, making the above year-over-year results comparable.

What is the GreatSchools Rating?

The GreatSchools rating is a simple tool for parents to compare schools based on test scores, student academic growth, and college readiness. It compares schools across the state, where the highest rated schools in the state are designated as “Above Average” and the lowest “Below Average.” It is designed to be a starting point to help parents make baseline comparisons. We always advise parents to visit the school and consider other information on school performance and programs, as well as consider their child's and family's needs as part of the school selection process.
