Profile Completeness

INTERMEDIATE

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

Congratulations to ULA's sister school, Star International Academy, and to the HES Family for ranking as the top high school in the state of Michigan according to the Mackinac Center for Public Policy's Michigan Public High School Context and Performance Report Card.

At Universal Learning Academy, principle and the dean of students are on top of everything. They always followed up with parents in regard of student s achievements and behavior. I always come to the family engagement sessions that Mr. Takkush does it for the parents on Friday of every month. I have two kids in the school. This is my Fourth year at the school. I am very pleased with the elementary teachers too. They are great. This school is awesome.

As of a parent I really like the school, from the principal, administrators, dean of students and also the teachers. they are all like a family supporting each other and helping our kids being well educated. I have 2 kids in ULA. I have been with this school since 2009. Very professional School. Go ULA

Absolutely worst school I ever worked at. I was a teacher for 11 years and never gotten disrespected like this in my life. I was only there for 3 days when I just couldn't handle it. All staff members are disrespectful and don't know proper English. All teachers don't know what their doing. They don't teach students properly and don't connect with any of them. And the dean of discipline barley knows English and ruins students reputation. They don't understand anything and this school needs to be shut down. Most students have wonderful personalities but the school doesn't teach them. Don't send your child to this school!!!!

My daugther is now in the 3rd grade at universal. I am happy with how her schooling is going. She has had wonderful teachers and the school is striving to improve itself every year. My only concern is she has a teacher new to the school every year except this current year. However the teachers she has gotten have been skilled and professional and great with the children.

My kids have been attending this school for the last few years. It has been a great experience all around. The academics are above and beyond what many public schools offer. They have high expectations of both their students and staff. It is a very family oriented school that really tries to involve parents at every turn. This school has a great principle who cares about the students and awesome teachers who have the kids best interests at heart. I would highly recommend this school to anyone looking for a great education for their child.

This school has really changed! For the past few years the school has done an awesome job! This really feels like a community school. We can't say enough about the job Mr. Bazzi and his staff have done. Kids love coming to school and doing projects and learning about lots of stuff. I have been a proud parent for the past 5 years now and it really has changed for the best the past few years. I'm looking forward to another great year!

Authorized by Bay Mills Community College, ULA offers an outstanding elementary education based on Michigan s core curriculum and the study of international cultures, including a language, culture, and history different from one s own. We encourage students to express and share their wealth of ethnic traditions, values, and experiences, thus enriching and nurturing one another. ULA s certified, experienced teachers hold degrees from nationally and internationally renowned colleges and universities. With uncommon dedication, our staff work closely with students and parents, sharing information and providing the personal attention necessary to help each child excel. Universal Learning Academy s professional and paraprofessional staff and support personnel work as a cohesive team with one common purpose: a superior education for our students, the decision-makers and leaders of tomorrow.

ULA's student body is now more diverse than ever so why is there so much emphasis on only certain cultures? Why are the children offered only the Arabic language? Why aren't children learning the U.S. National anthem and the Pledge of Allegiance? There is obviously not much interest in teaching pride AND diversity but rather addressing the importance of limited cultures. As long as they follow the school dress code, the children should not be admonished because they do not adhere to the Muslim dress code.

Universal Learning Academy is an average school. The education is fine but the teachers are terrible except for Mrs.Strecker and Mrs.Holdman. They are very kind and actually do their job. The principle, Mr.Bazzi, is very strict and not very respectable. He does not value his student's opinion. Some teachers are very selfish and don't do do their job. They don't offer real middle school or high school opportunities or clubs. The students judge each other and bully. But that is only a 35%. At other times the students are very nice. I am speaking form experience.

This is an amazing school! The teachers are very caring, and supportive of the students. My daughter has greatly improved from the beginning of the year, and Illook forward to her going 2014-2015 and my son starting Kindergarten. Mr. Bazzi is amazing, sweet, charismatic, but tough when he needs to be. You can feel the genuine interest the teachers, and staff have. The only complaint is some of the office staff have a bad attitude everyday, and I dislike dealing with them, and would love for Arabic class to be extended 2 hours a day Monday-Friday other than that I could not wish for a better school- it feels more like home!! Will eventually have 5 total at the school if it all works out!!

This year they got lots of new teachers that do not know what to do and they are not organized.Am talking here about the sixth grade teachers except for the Math teacher Ms "Strecker" she is the only one that cares about teaching the subject.

This is by far one of the worst schools I've ever been to. My child completely, and utterly hates the school. I don't blame them. The teachers are horrible. They can't teach very well, and I know that because my child is up all night doing homework, always struggling. The science teacher is not a very good teacher with a dull personality, as well as the other staff. The teachers want nothing but the money. That's why they are there. The school's MEAP scores were not all that high either. I am definitely transferring my child to another school. They deserve better than this "school".

I have volunteered in one of the Arabic classes (4th grade ). I was surprised with the way that Mrs. Elromh teaches her class. She was dressed up as a scientist and asking the students to talk using the Arabic language. I was stunned with the way that all students were quiet and trying to particpate. She also brought different old items to show the students about different inventions and how we improved.

Universal Learning Academy is a great school to send your children to. The staff and administration push the kids to be their best and to work hard. The staff is incredibly friendly and always available to help parents. Many of them offer their services after school to help students that need extra help. The environment is friendly and welcoming. The principal of the school is incredibly accomodating and always available if needed. They serve free breakfast and lunch to all the students and offer a wide variety of afterschool programs.

I am the parent of a kindergarten student in Ms. Hedke's class. I have been very happy with my childs education and the level he is progressing. The teacher takes her time to speak with the parents everyday and is never to busy for us. I have observed her in the class room with the students, and was blown away. The amount of care and love she provides to our children was incredible. I am very happy I selected this school for my child. Everyone in the school that I have encountered is very kind and helpful. They also offer free breakfast and lunch for all students and encourage health eating habbits. There is no disgusting mystery meals here, just real food.

Universal Learning Academy is a great place to learn! We look forward to our MEAPsters and SCANTRONians leading our school to victory with another year of meeting AYP requirements and meeting our goals of continuous school improvement. Our Superintendent/Founder Mrs. Nawal Hamadeh is leading the way this year and has empowered all to 'Transform & Discover the Wonders of your Wisdom, Strength & Powers'. With that we are able to get out of our 'Comfort Zone' and 'Keep on Going'. We will not Quit on our 2009-10 Theme of 'Dream*Imagine*Re-Imagine*Change'!

Universal Learning Academy is an establishment where everyone from the principal to the Parent Teacher Committee is dedicated to the success of the students both in and out of the classroom. Students are learning to be independent thinkers, questioners, and risk takers in their academics. They are also encouraged to be caring toward others and their communities.

We met AYP, we have the most conducive environmeny. We fully utalize technology. We all have computers and an electronic means of tracking our daily activities, monitoring school improvement implementation, tracking student progress, communicating with all key stakeholders (staff, parents, students, community members). Every department utilizes technology and it is integrated throughout our curriculum. The changes for strategic planning this year have made our jobs easier in using outlook to track our activities, meetings and tasks and sharing and exporting as a means for reporting; using PowerSchool for tracking/monitoring/reporting; having support staff (parapro s/support providers) setup to have their own electronic gradebooks. Our parnets are deeply involved in the education of their kids. The entire community supports us.
