the staff is amazing and overall the school is very great. I just wish some things were less focused on safety and less worrying. but the parents volunteers and people a like do a great job

We love Mill Creek! Principal Toby Miller sets the tone of support and inclusiveness for students and teachers alike. Mill Creek is a happy place where kids can explore who they are in a supportive learning environment. While the class sizes are perhaps a bit large in some grades, caring teachers and administration know each child personally. There is a marked lack of racial diversity, my own child being one of only a handful of minority students, and like any public school there are in my view too many Xerox worksheets--but parents are encouraged to take part in classroom activities, and the principal and teachers are very open to incorporating new activities. Since it is a small, rural school, you will not find a huge range of extracurricular activities, but outside community groups like Art Center and the Grand Traverse Resort offer classes throughout the year.
