Well im not going to say i feel your sons pain, However I am 16 and i do go to Airport high, The administrators and consolers are GREAT to talk to all the time. I am very proud of where are school is goin and what the administrators are doing. Tell your son that he CAN finish school, and its not worth going through all the drama that airport (in general) wants you to think that has happened.all he needs is a little confindencein himself and from THE PARENTS Now dont blame yourself just be cautious of what you day to your child that is all . Keep in touch, Ciara19700
Hating school and thinking that school is important are two different things. Even if he would admit that school is important, he'd still hate it. And it's hard to do well at the things we hate. How long has he hated school? Always? Or just recently? One of my own sons Hated school and I didn't like it too much myself though I went on to become a teacher and work in schools. To help my own son with his disliked of school, I helped him at night to knock out his homework - he hated homework most of all. He hated going in to school every day only to be assigned more homework. Sitting down with him and helping him with his homework helped him a lot. But not every kid will allow their parent to help. If you allow him to vent - to tell you what he doesn't like about school - and commiserate with him - that can help. School isn't for everybody - I hated sitting in those straight rows day after day but my own parents turned a deaf ear. Maybe try turning a listening ear, sympathizing with the things he doesn't like (school can be dull and boring!) will help him to tolerate it more and dislike it less. And even if he goes through school hating it - it's not the end of the world. He can still go on to college if he wants - teachers will sometimes lead you to believe that a child who doesn't do well in school is doomed to not do well in life but that doesn't have to be true at all.19699
Thankyou for responding. He hasn't liked school since first grade because it's work! It's not always fun! Home-work he should be able to do himself, but I am there if he needs help. I haven't forgot what it feels like to be in school, Ive actually gone to his classes alllll day with him, Believe me, I wouldn't want to be there all day either! I had him tested, he's totally capable of making A's with little effort, he just can't see the importance of getting good grades, and I just can't stand by my son and let him do poorly in school, and wait for him to turn out alright or to get good grades in high school. It's all the time in between that we, his teachers, and counselor and I have to put up with the attitude of not liking school. Im tired of getting on to him about it but I will not give up. If they'd only make homework that you could do on the playstation! I've taken the playstation away, gave incentives such as laptop or xbox game for getting all A's but it doesn't work. Sorry, I had to get that off my shoulders. Do you want to trade sons? Thanks again, karejust.19698
