Relocating to Weston

Hi there. Our family will be relocating to Weston, FL in July 2013. We have two kids, ages 7 and 13 (when we move). My question is, are we able to enroll our child in a school before we find a house to buy in the area (and say, we are still living in a hotel)? I hear so many good things about the schools in Weston - but heard that houses in our price range go pretty quickly. We don't want to rush or settle on our house purchase, but don't really want to have to uproot kids after they register with a school (if that's even possible).
Any advice or info would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Hi joy6765,

It's going to be tough. Most schools require either a utility bill or a lease agreement before they can register your kids. However some districts do allow for some forms of open enrollment (but again, usually require you live in the district before you can apply).

Your best bet would be to contact the district directly and see what they say.

Talk too to the HR department where you're relocating and see if they can get you in something more permanent than a hotel--like a six-month lease at an apartment in the area you need and go from there.

Good luck, and let us know what happens.

Thanks MagnetMom.
I'll be in Weston on the 26th of November and so will try to get some information while I'm there as well. I will get in touch with the Broward County school district as well as some individual schools directly. We currently live in Chile so any information I can get is extremely helpful.
I will let you know how it turns out.
