Is it a good idea to move our kids 7th grade and 6 th grade (straight A student) in the middle of the school year (April)? My husband's job is transferred and we have no family at our current location.
There's always a debate whether it's better to move right away, or let the kids finish the school year.
The argument for finishing the school year is that they complete the school year, so there is less of a lapse in learning. This also allows your husband to go and get set up before you make the move.
The argument for moving now is that they will meet friends before the long summer months and be acclimated when the fall comes. Also living in two households is costly and stressful for both you and your husband.
Good luck with your decision, and let us know how you decide.82723
Kids usually don't like to move but sometimes it's necessary. I might point out that we're three months from the end of the school year -not in the middle of it. 12-13 weeks to go till mid-June. It's often easier to adjust to a new school if you start in September but a great deal depends on the personality of the kids - do they deal with transitions well? Would they prefer to be with their father in their new home rather than finish out the school year? 82771
