What can you do when threats have been made against your child?

My 11yr old niece was the subject of a drawing by a classmate that showed him shooting her. There were several other drawings with other classmates, some of them very graphic including castration. The classmate was taken out of school and supposedly is in counseling and has met with our school psychologist but now, less than a week later, he is back in the classroom. How is this possible? What can we do to make sure my niece and the rest of the students are safe?

You need to make an appointment with the school principal. You have a right to discuss this. Most often the child in question has been given a 'clean bill of health' by a psychologist to return to school. Schools are very liable and very worried about lawsuits but nevertheless, make an appointment with the Principal.
