Westview Elementary School 5

We open enrolled to Westview from another school within our district and we could not be happier!! Our son finally loves school!!! I don't know many elementary aged kids that make excuses to skip school, but when our son was doing it daily, we knew that we needed to look at other options and we are glad we did!!! Our son is now ready for school long before its time to go, he excitedly tells us about his days, his teacher is in constant contact with us, etc etc etc. The school offers so many opportunities for families to help out and be involved in their children's lives - from classroom parties, to after school activities to evening fun nights - as well as celebrating EVERYONE! Rather than removing religion and parties (which children look forward to), the school celebrates ALL! This is something that is so rare in schools these days, which is unfortunate because children should be able to learn about other cultures and traditions. Our son has learned so much about other nationalities and he loves sharing at home, which means our family learns as well. Thank you, Westview Elementary staff, for allowing ALL religions to be learnt and celebrated! We can't say enough about how great this school has been for our son and family!

Shari Lyrek is my sons teacher and there aren't enough words to say how amazing she is!! She sees the good in all of her students and has an extremely patient, calm and gentle demeanor. She knows that kids need to be kids and works with them according to their needs as individuals, rather than a group as a whole. Westview has implemented Bulldog STRONG and Mrs. Lyrek has gone above and beyond with keeping our son on that track. We open enrolled after a couple years of struggles at another school & can happily say, he finally loves school and looks forward to going every day - I think a big reason is he was blessed with the most amazing teacher ever! We will forever be grateful for what she has taught our son.

My daughter loved being a Bulldog. The Bulldog Strong initiative has made positive choices a part of the fabric of the school. The teachers are caring and attentive and react quickly to issues that arise in a students' learning.

I want to send a huge thank you to Principle Tami for her heartfelt passion she shares with the Westview Staff, Students and families of Westview! With her warm and welcoming smile, her bulldog STRONG attitude and true passion for making Westview the best school it can be. She has made my kiddos school feel like a second home for are family. To have my kiddos get the amazing opportunities to participate in amazing school events like the community garden, the literary pumpkins, read n feeds, the fantastic CIP program, early morning achievers group, turkey bingo, book fairs, the give thanks food drive, the science and engineering night, the spring spirit carnival, the bulldog fun run (just to name a few :) ) has helped to develop such a positive and excited passion in my kids for learning, for going to school and for working thru the challenges that come while learning new things. Thank you Tami for everything you do, you help to make Westview Bulldog STRONG all year long!!!

We've always been very grateful for the care and support that our boys have received at Westview. They never gave up on them and worked with them until they were better students. The teachers and staff are wonderful with ALL students and are very good at respecting ALL cultures and learning types. Because of the diversity of our small school - my kids have a better understanding of all people and cultures from ESL students to special needs. There is a culture of tolerance in our school that I don't see everywhere.

I would like to thank our principal & the fabulous staff for encouraging our students to give so much. Not only during the Gobble, Gobble Give, but all year around. Our children are not only getting an amazing education, but are becoming well rounded humans. Thank you for taking such pride in our school & our kids. You're amazing!
