All 3 of my sons are attending Bethany Academy, having started in kindergarten. My sons are challenged by their teachers to think for themselves rather than just gathering information and facts. The technology will change by the time my sons graduate but if they know how to think they will be able to use whatever technology exists in the future. Bethany Academy has also been an ideal educational environment for them to have the Christian principles that we teach at home reinforced at school. The teachers and staff are partners with the parents in the education process. If you re looking for a Christian school that will partner with you as a parent to train Godly men and women, Bethany Academy should be on your list to evaluate and consider in the decision. Our daughter has attended Bethany Academy since Kindergarten. The education and environment is a perfect fit for our family. The teachers love Jesus Christ. This is evident as we watch the care and concern they have for each and every student. We have a new head administrator who was a Bethany teacher for 19 years. She knows Bethany, she has a passion for Jesus and she is extremely gifted in the area of educational excellence. We are excited for all the great things God will add to this school through her. Even though we live over 30 miles from Bethany, we are happy to drive every day to watch our daughter grow in her love for Jesus and in her love for learning. If you are considering a Christian school, call or stop in and get to know Bethany Academy. You will feel the difference. Jim and Julie Miller
Finally, the superintendent of this school has been fired and new leadership will be coming in. After years of turmoil perhaps the board realized they could no longer sweep countless complaints under the rug if they wanted to stop the masses of good families leaving each and every year. This school could be great if they'd actually follow the school handbook, enforce discipline, up security and get the standard of education up to par with public schools. We are hoping for a major turn around or we'll be leaving too.
Bethany Academy is great school with amazing Christian teachers who are dedicated to each student's success. The academics are rigorous. There is not another music program like ours...anywhere. Our sports, drama and art programs are great. My kids have blossomed in this safe and nurturing environment. There is a great community and closeness here. Students and parents make lifelong friendships at this school. Every school has their complainers, don't listen to them. You could miss out on this treasure! Check it out for yourself.
I have been at the school for 15 years with kids now in college and 2 still at Bethany Academy. It is a wonderful place that has prepared my children successfully to take on the challenges of the world. The Godly staff and administration have personally invested into their lives. After seeing some of the reviews, I know there have been families who have not been happy, but you will find that anywhere. My answer to that is to personally visit the school, talk to the students, teachers and staff, have your student stay for a day and most importantly, pray about where God wants your child. God bless you in your decision.
We have invested many years at Bethany Academy and have had 4 children either currently in or at the Academy in the past. I thank God for the influence of the caring teachers and staff and administration. It feels like a small town where everyone knows your name. They have learned why they believe what they believe and are firm in their faith. They have been challenged and affirmed throughout their years and have gained confidence. We love Bethany Academy!
I graduated from Bethany Academy in 1982 and my wife in 1981. Our daughter now attends Bethany and I serve on the Board. My experience as a Alumni, Parent and Board member is that Bethany is a great place for students to receive a high quality Christian education. The teachers, staff and administration are Godly men and women who's love of teaching and love for the kids is only surpassed by their love of Jesus Christ. Is Bethany for everyone? No.
I have been an active parent at Bethany Academy for many years and have experienced a loving Christian environment that promotes a Biblical worldview, Christ-like atmosphere, and sound and ethical leadership. Both of my children have been taught, loved and supported in a fashion that echoes our home values. I have appreciated the role modeling and input from the head administator, teachers and other parents. What more could a parent want?
We were at Bethany for a couple years, we were subject to the 6% tuition increase, followed by an the immediate 11%, we were also witness to various things commented in the other negative reviews also, we have since left. When we, as educated intelligent adults asked questions, beyond accounting 101, we felt the administration and the school board did not feel obligated to be fully accountable and open, our questions were dismissed as unqualified, a spirit of division or part of a larger conspiracy. I to would recommend comparing tuition and academics/curriculum to the schools they consider in their top priced league. We believe the School Board itself needs more oversight in order to provide oversight. The integrity and future viability of this school depends on what they do with their responsibility not only to the children/parents but in particular, to the Lord.
It is our experience that although there are some really good families and children, and even though Bethany claims to not accept children who do not want to be there, it appears many children end up attending Bethany as an attempt to modify the downward path they are on. If you are considering Bethany as a haven to protect your children, make sure your eyes are wide open going in...we are happy to learn by this site, we aren't the only ones who felt this way.
